OMG TO THE EXTREME: ‘Pokemon Black 2’ and ‘White 2’ Promotional Short

Thanks to a known YouTube hack, we have obtained the trailer for the new Black 2 and White 2 promotional trailer that is supposed to be revealed tomorrow on Pokemon’s official YouTube channel. As of right now, we don’t know anything else about it other than it is supposed to promote Black 2 and White 2 and is called a “promotional movie.”

The trailer exhibits characters from the new games, including N, the male character, his rival, Bianca, Achroma, Elesa, Cheren, Team Plasma, and the Shadow Triad. It starts out with N at Dragonspiral Tower saying, “What sort of path are you and your Pokemon aiming for?” We see the silhouette of either Reshiram or Zekrom flying overhead. We then see the new B2W2 male character and his rival meeting Bianca, whom they have never met, to receive their Starter Pokemon. Achroma, the mysterious man who was featured in CoroCoro last month, is sitting in the dark and says he doesn’t agree with Team Plasma’s stance on liberating Pokemon (who is he affiliated with?). Next, we meet Elesa (sporting black hair) – she wonders whose Pokemon will shine on the stage. We next see Cheren joining the male character and the rival to battle Team Plasma, then chasing after them. A town in Unova appears to be frozen over for unknown reasons. The Shadow Triad member they chase holds out some sort of capsule and gloats that he will achieve his mission no matter who the opponent is. Thanks goes to Gin for the translations!

And wow – this seems to be a much more mature take on Pokemon than the regular anime! The Pokemon do not talk, but make sounds, and the action seems to be a little more extreme. The animation is also more fluid and the art is more detailed, so perhaps the short was outsourced to a different company or they just chose to change the style to distinguish it from the regular show. Now if only the regular show could be more like this – a real anime! We’ll just have to wait for my live-action Pokemon movie one day. :p
