‘EX Power-Up Collections’ in May!

I tried to get this news up earlier today, but we were undergoing server maintenance (and still are: the commenting system is currently down).

Four new “EX Power-Up Collections” will be released in stores on May 11th. Similar to the “Red Genesect Collection,” each package will come with a 60 card deck featuring either Gengar-EX, Manectric-EX, Shaymin-EX, or Seismitoad-EX (with new artwork), two new XY promos in each deck (meaning eight different XY promos), a pin of the featured Pokemon, a coin of the featured Pokemon, a paper deck box, two booster packs, damage counters, a player’s guide, a paper playmat, and a PTCGO code card. Each package will retail for $24.99.

The twelve featured cards will likely come from Japan’s Premium Champion Set, which will be released on April 16th (two weeks from now). Since they’re being stuffed into these products, it probably means Japan’s set will mainly be a reprint set (along with the Mythical Pokemon from our Mythical Pokemon Collections).

Since the Pokemon-EX will have alternate artwork, this likely means they’ll be ultra rares in the Premium Champion set (since the regular artwork prints are already in the set). It’s unlikely only these four Pokemon-EX would have alternate artwork, so the rest will probably have secret rare alternate art prints too (in which case we might get them in our next set of tins or even in our next set).

Update: Yes this was an April Fools’ joke. :p I’m actually relieved so many people doubted it (or played along for the fun). It means you openly question authority, which is something our society should do more often toward the media (and it’s something the larger Pokemon community definitely needs to do with all these Sun and Moon “leaks” every other day, or when sites like Polygon post Base Set is being reprinted). But be warned… I will get you all next year! :p This was only an off year because I’m starting my thesis film and graduating grad school. Hope no one was too offended.
