I dissagree, Pokemon is pathetic. The fact that they don't care about keeping older fans like me and you is infuriating. Ghibli has a long-time goal and they assume the best of all their fans, furthermore all of their movies are high quality, not just a few. PUSA is not going to release it in theaters because they don't care about fans.

That Ghibli film blew too. I can't believe that anyone likes this guys films. After Princess Mononoke, all of his films have been incoherent crudfests.
And another thing, I don't get why Japan can't seem to wrap thier heads around the 60 fps idea that most American animation (Theatrical) has had since the 60's.

Also the 11th movie was kinda not good, and did not even deserve that spot.

I would love to see Pokemon in the theaters here, but it's not going to happen. It has been getting more popular, but I don't think it's popular enough to be in thearters. It would probably do horrible, and then that could lower it's popularity.

Pokemon doesn't get its respect because:
  1. *Deep Voice* Oh yeah. I had a Squirtle. Haha! Squirtle go!
  2. *Mocking, high pitch voice* It's all about the Holographic Charizard!
  3. *Mocking, confused, not caring voice* Who was that other one?

In case you don't get my joke^ that's what "non-poke fans" say when they see you playing. And within seconds, you are swarmed with themSad

Pokemon is really popular in Japan, but it might not be as popular here, but they have to take the risk, they will never know the result if they don't, the dvd sort of sequence makes it feel like the movie is not that good, that was the reason for me not buying the rise of darkrai.... *sigh* too much is going on Sad

You may find it in some theaters actually. A cinimark in Strongsville Ohio has one to two night engagements of anime films. They've played the live action Death Note film and Bleach Memories of Nobody. It's plausible that the 11th pokemon movie may be shown. Or at least I'm hoping.

well i disagree with you COMMENTERS! XD i was very, very impressed with the 11th movie, and i am not an easy-going person when it comes to judging the anime and movies. that movie was NOT a kiddie movie, it felt like a movie for all ages, and its audience and box office numbers reflected this fact. it was no disney masterpiece or princess mononoke, but it was entertaining as hell, which is brilliant considering its a pokemon movie! those usually put me to sleep!

not only that, pokemon company IS making huge attempts to please its adult fanbase lately - but if you are in the wrong country for pokemon, or refuse to see those attempts, then so be it XD

i think i am different from the majority of you, as i've only ever touched a TCG card to collect their artwork in a binder. i am a true and blue fan of the non TCG aspects of pokemon, which, when you step back and look at the big picture, have a fanbase with just as many adults as the TCG fanbase has.

to comments and opnions such as "I dissagree, Pokemon is pathetic. The fact that they don't care about keeping older fans like me and you is infuriating", i am very sorry to hear you say that because it is 100% not true Sad i am very sorry the states don't make as much effort, but pokemon is not pathetic, and they ARE making a huge effort to keep older fans. i had another article WPM didn't post (yet?) with photos from the pokemon center here, showing tons of adults and teenagers waiting around to battle and buy goods, on some random tuesday! pokemon is now plastered all over eight bullet trains and also airplanes! pokemon is very, very beloved and i think everyone ought to be excited that america and other countries ARE slowly starting to get back into it (burger king promotion, more jakks goods, arcade prizes, etc...).

Ok, how can people hate movie 11? To me (I did not see it).It sounds so good.
Rise of darkrai to me was like one of the best out of the 10 movies in America.
If you do not agree with me, so what like I care. Pokemon is for all ages and people.

In addition, the box office thing did not surprise me.

i for one am very greatful to see more pokemon here in the states. i have been going to burger king almost everyday to get the cards and toys. i went on sunday and the 3 burger kings around here are sold out because so many people have been coming to get them. and they were suppose to get a shipment on monday but haven't gotten them yet. i try my best to support pokemon by buying the stuff.
also, there was a contest thing here with some kid lunchable thing. you sign up on their website and submit to it everyday and you could win prizes, including a new ds, figures, diamond or pearl, dvds, and other things. i actually came in second place and they mailed me prize of 2 dvds from pokemon advanced. sure, its not a new ds but at least there was a contest.
a few weeks ago, my friend told me when she went to williamsburg busch gardens (amusment park), that she saw lots of people walking around with pikachu, piplup, croagunk, and other pokemon stuff toys that they won from the arcade games, and most of them were teens and even adults.
as for the movie, i would love to see a pokemon movie in theaters again. the last movie i saw was pokemon 3 and i was sad when i found out that they weren't putting them in theaters anymore. i do agree that PUSA doesn't pamper pokemon like it is in japan and think only kids like pokemon, but after 7-8 years, it would be cool to see a pokemon movie in theaters again.

Well, congratulations Pokemon for being a Box-Office smash in Japan. Even if we had a petition, Pokemon won't come to the Theaters because Pokemon isn't as popular in the U.S. as it is in Japan. Also, I don't think Studio Ghibli's films are for kids younger than Pokemon. I know Pokemon fans who are 1< years old. :/

dmaster out.

I don't really see why Pokemon movies should be released in theaters again. They aren't really that riveting of story telling and even a limited release won't get a whole lot of money. The last Pokemon movie they even released in a local theater was the 3rd, and I honestly think that was the last one I even enjoyed, on a kids movie level at that.
