This isn't the first Harry Potter club I made; in fact it's my third! My last two have been inconsistent blunders; probably they failed because of my very own reluctance to commit myself to keep the club alive. This time I won't fail to disappoint, I will do my best to bring you the best Harry Potter Club you can find in Pokebeach. So, have a good time and please do join!

Yesterday, I wasn't able to upload news because I felt so sluggish to do it. I'm sorry, I won't do that again. Anyways, welcome our new members and have a good time with the discussion.



Today,
The rain is trickling down every leaf in it's branch, and the soft pitter-patter is in my ear. It's so relaxing and conjusive for writing. As the days slip by in my holidays, I'm getting more and more anxious for my school to start again, but for now...
I'll rest.

Every now and then, I think about what J.K. Rowling or any of the cast crew are doing or thinking about. Probably they're busy thinking of completing the much anticipated movie the fans are screaming for, or they maybe be sound asleep. I'm sure everyone needs a break from reality, you might too. So...sit back and relax, enjoy life because it's meant to be enjoyed.

It's a horrible thing when death comes- funerals, black clothes, and tears.
But we must always remember that there can be light, all we have to do is switch it on.

The shops are taking long, I've been a little busy with my studies and my-day-to-day routine and I think that it would be ready later than expected. But don't worry, they'll be up.

As for news, I'm counting the days till the new Harry Potter film comes out. I do hope in my heart that they will not make it "suck." But I trust the director (sure people make mistakes but it's a matter of learning from them that counts). So, please director, make the film one in a billion.

This week's Quidditch wasn't as interesting as it should have been, considering the fact that there weren't much Chasers and Beaters. I guess we have to wait for a couple more people to join the team, only then can we play full Quidditch.

Items have been in progress, but they aren't ready for the shop yet, so those who want to shop...please be patient.

Just a word of Thanks to Black Rayquaza for passing the club's evaluation!

I decided to cut out the Diagon Alley section, for two reasons. One, it isn't part of Hogwarts, and two, it will be such a hassle to update so many shops. I am currently working on how the Hogsmeade shops, and if I have another area to cover, I sure to have insanity. I'm having a little trouble trying to figure out how people can buy things without just stealing them (Saving the image), so I think the shops will take a little more time than I expected, but not to worry, everything's under control.

Anyways, the shop I'm currently updating (and it is also my favorite of all Hogsmeade shops), is Honeyduke's Sweet Shop. I have been searching all over the internet of how each item is supposed to look like. So, I hope all of you are excited about it, I know I am.

To be honest, I was a bit sceptical of making PokeChamp a House Leader for Slytherin, considering he is the only member of the house, but seeing how loyal and ineterested he is, I know I made the right decision. For a Slytherin, you're not mean at all, plus, who wouldn't want a hilarious leader? Congratz' PokeChamp!

You're a loyal fan, and you're very intellectual, which gave me every reason to promote you as HOUSE Leader. You define every word of intellect, and you are a responsible typer. Please don't get discouraged if you haven't been selected a House Leader, it isn't because I thought you guys weren't up to the standard but because House Leaders should possess certain traits, such as, being active in the clan, a responsible typer, discretion, and a load of other stuff. I'm currently deciding whether I should continue with putting up the items. It sounds a little silly, but then again it would be rather nice to have a small Harry Potter item sprite in your signature. Anyway, I think it will be done this Saturday (my little brother takes ages doing the main computer, in weekdays but in weekends, it's a different story-he doesn't wake up early). And yes, I've already added GOLD to each of your accounts.

Anyway, I'm updating the Quidditch form, so I think those who have already filled it out, please tell me what type of broom you would like- either a firebolt, Nimbus 2000/2004/2007...

[spoiler]Some of the promised sections have already been put up and been updated, some haven't been. I hope you like it. To be honest, I wasn't really sure about the Quidditch game, but ever since the successful applications, I think it will work out.

I've decided to add some new sections to the first page of this club, such as, Hogsmeade: Relaxing from School, the Quidditch Stadium: Tryouts and Games, Diagon Alley (that's right, I'm gonna draw items, yes I draw, for you to buy out of your own earned points that are called GOLD in this club), and the all the COMMON ROOMS So prepare to be excited!

THE QUIDDITCH GAME:

Application Form:
1. I will hold this game only on Saturdays and Sundays. The rules are simple, you tryout by entering this application form:

Username:
Occupation for the game: (Seeker, Keeper, Chaser, or Beater)
Why you want to join: (This can be as short as "Because I love quidditch")
What type of Broomstick do you want?: (Firebolt, Nimbus, Phantom Flyer,Phantom Seeker,Scarlet Hawk, Scarlet Falcom,Sienna Storm, Cleansweep)
Are you a fair player?:

MAIN RULES:
1.Never swear or cuss in the game.
2.Write "Quidditch Game" Before you post anything or reply to any of the other players.
3.Never post "I killed the other Quidditch player with a bludger.
4.Only members from this club can play.


How to play:
When the Keeper of a certain House declares "QUIDDITCH GAME TIME" only on Saturday or Sunday, only then the players can start. Anyone can be a Chaser but there can only be one Keeper and Seeker but everyone can beaters for their houses. Players can play as much as they like from afternoon to midnight (not necessarily continuously). It only stops when the Seeker is online and they say "I found the snitch!" But the game can resume again when the Keeper is online and he says "QUIDDITCH GAME TIME" once again. You can be creative it this game. Remember, you are always in an imaginary broom while you play this game. XD

What a Beater does:
In that Saturday,the beaters can only post "BEATS kawaii_Mew (only an example) in the head with a bludger" or anything related to beating a chaser, keeper, seeker, or another beater with a bludger. You cannot beat your own team! He only beats a bludger. If the bludger isn't blocked by either another beater, keeper, or chaser, then the victim will have to wait for 3 posts before he can post again.

EXAMPLE:

kawaii_Mew posts: Beats Poke Champ in the head with a bludger!

Poke Champ* posts: Beats kawaii_Mew back with the bludger.


What a Keeper does:
The Keeper's job is simple, he can stop a Quaffle from getting in the pitch, such as this example:

Chaser posts: "Throws Quaffle into the pitch."

Keeper posts: "Retrieves Quaffle, nah nah nah nah nah! XD"

A Keeper can do all jobs except Seek.

What Chasers do:
Chasers are the most annoying of the players. They can post either, "I'm tailgating you" or "I'm at your back."

Example:

Chaser: I'm annoying you by chasing you!

What a Seeker does:

After every 50th post after the Quidditch game starts, the first seeker to post- SNITCH, gets 138 points. ONLY SEEKERS AND KEEPERS CAN WIN POINTS, if the chance is missed, that's not my problem...>.>

The points do not help any team win though, it is just a bonus and a way to earn GOLD.

Example:

Seeker: Hehe, I'm online now! Snitch! I've got 138 points!

There you go, that's a simple online quidditch game. You can get as creative as much as you want with it, it's YOUR GAME. To avoid spamming, please ensure that you say "Quidditch Game" in all your game posts.

Harry Potter: Daniel Radcliff
According to Rowling, the idea for both the Harry Potter books and its eponymous protagonist came while waiting for a delayed train from Manchester to London in 1990. She stated that her idea for "this scrawny, black-haired, bespectacled boy who didn't know he was a wizard became more and more real to me”. While she fleshed out the ideas for her book, she also decided to make Harry an orphan who attended a boarding school called Hogwarts. She explained in a 1999 interview with The Guardian: "Harry had to be an orphan — so that he's a free agent, with no fear of letting down his parents, disappointing them ... Hogwarts has to be a boarding school — half the important stuff happens at night! Then there's the security. Having a child of my own reinforces my belief that children above all want security, and that's what Hogwarts offers Harry."

Her own mother's death on 30 December 1990 inspired Rowling to write Harry Potter as a boy longing for his dead parents, his anguish becoming "much deeper, much more real" than in earlier drafts because she related to it herself. In a 2000 interview with The Guardian, Rowling also established that the character of Wart in T.H. White's novel The Sword in the Stone is "Harry's spiritual ancestor." Finally, she established Harry's birth date as 31 July, the same as her own. However, she maintained that Harry was not directly based on any real-life character: "he came just out of a part of me".

Rowling has also maintained that Harry is a suitable real-life role model for children. "The advantage of a fictional hero or heroine is that you can know them better than you can know a living hero, many of whom you would never meet [...] if people like Harry and identify with him, I am pleased, because I think he is very likeable."




Hermione Granger: Emma Watson
Hermione is a Muggle-born Gryffindor student, and the best friend of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The daughter of two dentists, she is an overachiever who excels academically, and she is described by Rowling as a "very logical, upright and good" character. Her parents are a bit bemused by their odd daughter, but quite proud of her all the same." Though Rowling has described the character of Luna Lovegood as the "anti-Hermione" because they hold the exact opposite ideologies, Hermione’s foil at Hogwarts is Pansy Parkinson, a female bully based on real-life girls who teased the author during her school days.

Rowling claims the character of Hermione carries several autobiographical influences. "I did not set out to make Hermione like me but she is...she is an exaggeration of how I was when I was younger." She recalled being called a "little know-it-all" in her youth. Moreover, she states that not unlike herself, "there is a lot of insecurity and a great fear of failure" beneath Hermione's spottiness. Finally, according to Rowling, next to Albus Dumbledore, Hermione is the perfect expository character: because of her encyclopedic knowledge, she can always be used as a plot dump to explain the Harry Potter universe. Rowling also claims that her feminist conscience is saved by Hermione, "who's the brightest character" and is a "very strong female character."

Hermione's name is derived from William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale; Rowling claimed that she wanted it to be unusual since if fewer girls shared her name, fewer girls would get teased for it. Her original last name was "Puckle", but Rowling felt the name "did not suit her at all," and so the less frivolous Granger made it into the books. Rowling confirmed in a 2004 interview that Hermione is an only child.


Ronald Weasley: Rupert Grint
According to J. K. Rowling, Ron was among the characters she created "the very first day". Ron is inspired in Rowling's best friend Sean Harris (to whom Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is dedicated), but she has clearly stated that she "never set out to describe Sean in Ron, but Ron has a Sean-ish turn of phrase." Like Harris is to Rowling, Ron is "always there" when Harry needs him. The character of Ron fits many of the stereotypes expected of the sidekick; he is often used as comic relief, is loyal to the hero, and lacks much of the talent Harry possesses, at least in terms of magical power. Unlike some sidekicks, he is not cowardly, demonstrating bravery several times, such as playing 'real wizard's chess' in the first book and entering into the Forbidden Forest with Harry during the second book despite his arachnophobia.

Some of Ron's qualities serve as foils to Harry. While Harry is an orphan with more gold than he needs, Ron comes from a large and loving but poor family; many of his possessions are hand-me-downs. Harry is famous but would prefer to avoid the spotlight; Ron, in comparison, is often perceived as a mere lackey and sometimes becomes jealous of the recognition Harry receives. Finally, Ron is the most mediocre of his siblings, being (as of the first book) he is neither an excellent Quidditch player, nor a noteworthy student or the daughter his mother always wanted. All these factors have combined to cause Ron serious insecurities; this inferiority complex, and his need to prove himself a notable person in his own right, is the main thrust of his character growth.

DISCUSSION:
What do you guys think about the new Harry Potter movie? Was it good?
Personally, I liked it a lot but some certain aspects of the film did dissapoint me, especially the part where the director turned the joyous Christmas scene into the worst Christmas ever. I really wanted to see Ginny and Harry's relation sprout, not like an immediate sudden attraction towards each other.

The plus side is that I loved the way they portrayed Fred and George Weasley Wheezes. The rest of the film other than the christmas scene was brilliant!

First of all, how are the dungeons not in your pole! :O
I'd totally go there but it's not an option!

As for the current topic:
The film itself was good, but some aspects of the film did disappoint me. Some parts of the movie looked forced (the relationship of Harry and Ginny was not as believable as it was in the book!). But overall, the film was enjoyable, and it certainly made me want to see the next one (two parts, I believe).

Ah! The dungeons, I forgot. I wonder whether I could edit the poll, sigh....
And yes, I agree that the relationship between Harry and Ginny was poorly portrayed and I really am bummed that they didn't show the memory of Voldermort's mother, uncle, and grandfather. Althought the film was overall, very good in quality, great acting, spectacular cinematography- a lot of useless scenes were added and a lot of the important scenes weren't added at all (except for the core information of the coming two films).
I liked the movie, but I can't rate it 10 in a scale of 1 to 10. I would probably give a 9. :S

You can edit it... just use your wand! xD

Yeah, they tore apart the scenes where they go into Riddle's memory. As such, movie viewers who haven't read the book are missing some pretty important information.
