Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

I'm having trouble recruiting Celebi in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of time. Every time I go to recruit it, I end up killing it.
One time, Celebi was on the very top of my screen, so I could only see half of it, I didn't know what it was, so I used Flamethrower, then it said:
Celebi took (something) damage, Celebi was defeated. I was like OMG! I killed it again....................................................... Sad

Use a very weak Pokemon if all possible. Fire Type moves are Super Effective against grass types. In this case use a Pokemon that matches the level of Celebi and use a move that is not effective but not ineffective on the Pokemon. Also you can try capturing it without attacking too sometimes that works too but it will take longer to capture the Pokemon if you don't attack. I hope that helps. I never have played the game but I know enough to know what to do. Don't use Fire typ or Ice type moves and also Psychic type moves or you will end up KO'ing the Pokemon every time. Smile

But its still going to be hard, I'm an Infernape and my partner is a Torterra, I'm lvl.95, Torterra's lvl.74, plus I'm going with Palkia,

Make sure you use a weak attack. Use your Torterra since grass attacks are not very effective on grass Pokemon. Most of the time at high levels they don't do that much damage unless it is a critical hit. Smile

I don't know about it whether you have to beat the game or not, in this case I trust PDC, so try doing that first. And you HAVE to defeat Celebi in order to befriend it. Just like any other Pokemon (unless they made PMD2 different then PMD). But don't defeat it by long distant attacks. Defeat Celebi when it is right next to you, then it has the change to ask to join your team.

If you knew well enough what to do, then you would know you have to defeat your opponent in PMD in order to befriend it. Make sure next time you know what you post or do some research.

(btw, Psychic isn't super effective on Celebi, so I don't get what you mean with that).

If you have to KO it then use Flamethrower to do it. That is Super Effective so use that move so he can join your party. Smile

No you can use your long distant attacks like Earthquake and Razor Leaf too as long as Celebi is in a square next to you. If you defeat it while there's a gap between you and Celebi; it can't ask to join you.

And do you have the Secret Stoneplate or Enigma Part with you? This is necessary to befriend Celebi.
