Pokemon Bank subscribers who access their accounts between February 27th and November 30th will receive Meganium, Typhlosion, AND Feraligatr with their Hidden Abilities. All three Pokemon will come to you at Level 50. To receive them, you need to use Pokemon Link in any Gen VI game after accessing Pokemon Bank with the game you want to download them to.

Pokemon Bank Meganium, Typhlosion, AND Feraligatr
  • Meganium will come with the Hidden Ability Leaf Guard. Leaf Guard protects the Pokemon from status conditions when the sunlight is harsh or extremely harsh, and this Meganium knows Sunny Day—so it can change the weather to take advantage of its own Hidden Ability.
  • Typhlosion will have the Hidden Ability Flash Fire, which boosts the power of Fire-type moves by 50% and prevents this Pokemon from taking damage if hit with a Fire-type move. This Typhlosion knows Overheat, Flamethrower, and Flame Charge, maximising the advantage Flash Fire provides.
  • Feraligatr possesses the Hidden Ability Sheer Force, which eliminates the additional effects of moves used by the Pokemon, while increasing the move’s power by 30%. This Feraligatr already knows three moves that have additional effects. Thanks to Sheer Force, it can deal major damage with these moves.

April 17th will see the release of a post-Emerald Break product called the "Rayquaza Mega Battle Jumbo Pack." The product will feature a holo Blaziken-EX promo and an Emerald Break poster. It will also come with two Emerald Break, two Gaia Volcano, and two Tidal Storm booster packs, all for 900 yen. This is following the release of Emerald Break and its accompanying products on March 14th. It seems the Rayquaza hype is on for the TCG!

The 21-minute Klefki and Pikachu short that played in Japan's theaters before the Diancie movie has now been dubbed and is available to watch on Pokemon TV. The short follows Pikachu and gang as they travel with Klefki to different worlds, some inhabited by Legendary Pokemon. Pokemon.com says the short will only be available for a short amount of time, so be sure to watch it as soon as you can (especially if you're 8).

Pikachu, What's This Key?

Update (Monday, 9:30 AM) - Added Swablu and Fearow's retreat cost!

Thanks to our Twitter friends @yutaso0720 and @syakopoke, we now have photos of the new Fearow and Energy Recycle promos Japanese players can get when they attend Gym Challenge tournaments! Thanks goes to Vincent for the translations!

Fearow Gym Challenge Promo

Fearow - Colorless - HP90
Stage 1 - Evolves from Spearow

Δ Evolution: You may play this card from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon even if that Pokemon was put into play this turn or if it's your first turn.

[C] Machine Gun Drill: 20x damage. Flip 5 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads.
[C][C][C] Swoop Down: 80 damage. This Pokemon does 20 damage to itself.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

Swablu Gym Challenge Promo

Swablu - Colorless - HP40
Basic Pokemon

[C] Healing Wound: Heal 20 HP from 1 of your Pokemon.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

Energy Recycle Gym Challenge Promo

Energy Recycle - Trainer
Item

Choose 5 basic Energy cards from your discard pile, reveal them, and shuffle them into your deck.

You may use as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Only Flygon-EX, Swablu, Fearow, Lanturn, and Energy Recycle are brand new out of the 12 Gym Challenge promos this season; the rest of the cards are reprints, though most with new artwork. We already know Flygon-EX will be released in our Flygon-EX Box in April, but the other promos will probably be thrown into one of our sets at some point like past Gym Challenge promos.

GameXplain has posted a deep analysis of what we've seen from Pokken Tournament so far, covering many details I haven't seen posted anywhere. Perhaps the niftiest feature is that your fighter Pokemon will grow in different stat areas like Pokemon from the main games, meaning no two Suicune or Pikachu will be exactly alike. It's speculated that maybe in the future Nintendo will release amiibo for each Pokemon to store your fighter's stats too. There are many enlightening observations revealing how this game works, its mechanics, and what's going on, so check out the video!

The Pokken Tournament demos are currently taking place in Japan and our Twitter friend ErikBarkas has taken photos of his gameplay!

Like in Smash Bros., every Pokemon has another "skin" you can use to help differentiate you from the same opponent (such as in 2-player mode). Lucario and Gardevoir are both available in red colors, Suicune in white, and Pikachu is available with blue pants (the red Machamp you see below is not an alternate color - Machamp glows red when it uses its Burst Attack). The Pokemon also have poses you can trigger, again like in Smash Bros..

Gardevoir / Technic Fighting Style / A: Psyshock, Forward + A: Assist Power, Back + AX: Calm Mind and Psychic, A in mid-air: Magical Leaf

More Support Pokemon and Stages

Eevee and Froagadier have been confirmed as Support Pokemon. Eevee knows Helping Hand, temporarily increasing your attack damage and restoring some of your health. Frogadier can use Water Pulse. Again, the function of the Support Pokemon are similar to Poke Ball Pokemon in Smash Bros.

An underwater aquarium stage was also confirmed. You can see Lugia and other Water Pokemon behind giant panes of glass in the ocean. Previous stages confirmed are Chrom Town (from the very first trailer) and Phos Volcano (from last week's stream).

And on the same day we post the Flygon-EX Box, we get the card's translation! Thanks goes to Puddizzle for the translation!

Flygon-EX and other Gym Challenge Promos

Flygon-EX - Dragon - HP170
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Sand Song
Once during your turn (before your attack), if this Pokemon is your Active Pokemon, you may have your opponent switch his or her Active Pokemon with 1 of his or her Benched Pokemon.

[G][F][F][C] Spiral Burn: 80+ damage. Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 30 more damage for each heads.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Fairy (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

As posted previously, those who attend Japan's Gym Challenge tournaments from February to April will receive a booster pack featuring twelve promo cards. In addition to Flygon-EX and Lanturn, the photo above reveals the other promos are Tynamo, Fearow (with an Ancient Trait), Vulpix, Rhydon, Swablu, Acro Bike, Energy Recycle, Fighting Energy, Water Energy, and Grass Energy. The three Basic Energy feature new artwork.

Energy Recycle is a new card, but it may be the spiritual successor to Energy Recycle System. The card is covered up right now, but according to some Twitter folks, it returns 5 basic Energy from your discard pile to your deck (the artwork seems to indicate that too).

Fearow having an Ancient Trait of course indicates that the mechanic will continue in the TCG. The Ancient Trait is new, green, and features what we think is the delta symbol. Considering Emerald Break will feature Rayquaza, the green color and it being delta make sense.
