Pokemon Trading Card Game for Gameboy

The original Pokemon Trading Card Game for Gameboy Color will be available in the Nintendo 3DS eShop for Europe on July 10th and for Australia on July 11th. Other regions will likely follow suit as well. This will be the first Pokemon game released for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.

The game was originally released in December 1998 for Japan and April 2000 for America. Your character picks a Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle deck and attempts to defeat the eight Club Masters and members of their clubs. You earn booster packs along the way and try to improve your deck or build new ones as you go. Eventually, you battle the four Grand Masters and try to earn a legendary set of Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, and Dragonite cards.

The game features Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, and several real-life and game-exclusive promo cards.

The new Xerneas and Yveltal promo cards from the Movie 17 Commemoration Packs have been revealed! Both are new, but their text is currently too small to translate. As stated before, each pack comes with six booster packs and will be released on July 19th for The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie.

Also releasing the same day will be two Diancie packs with four booster packs and their own Diancie promo, each with different artwork. These are the first Diancie cards in the TCG. The first pack will only be sold at movie theaters and Pokemon Centers while the second pack will be sold everywhere.

Noble Victories Eelektrik

Starting with next year's Fall Regionals, day 2 of each tournament will feature an extended format of Black and White-on. This means that the first day of Regionals will be whatever the next Modified format is (once it is announced for next season), and then day 2 will be backtracking to allow for older sets that weren't even legal this season. Presumably, other tournaments next season will feature the extended-format for top cut rounds. The news of an extended BW-on format was first announced last July.

If you make it to day two, this means you'll be seeing cards like Eelektrik from Noble Victories again (and Tropical Beach, which will likely be rotated out at the end of this season). It is assumed that players can modify or change their decks between day one and two, which has never been allowed in the TCG's history before, but full details are not yet known at this time.

This news also means that players will need to test for a wider range of decks and figure out how to change their decks based on what they've seen at their tournaments on day one. This will insure that the best player wins!

PokemonCenter.com Reopening

PokemonCenter.com has launched in "lite mode" and already features a few products from Japan! There will be new products featured every week until it launches on August 6th.

This week you can purchase a set of Eeveelution charms, a Pikachu plush, and a Mewtwo tumbler. Whereas the charms can go for up to $100 on the secondary market (from a quick search), the website is selling them for $23.92. The Pikachu plush is $12.99 and the Mewtwo tumbler is $17.50.

I went through checkout with the Eeveelution charms and shipping to California is $5.98 for 3-5 day shipping, $9.98 for 2-day shipping, and $17.98 for next-day shipping. When I added several of each item to my cart, the price for each tier only went up a couple of dollars, so the shipping prices aren't too outrageous. As we stated yesterday, the website only ships to the United States.

Currently the site is experiencing technical problems, so you will have to refresh several times to access it and to place orders.
