Pokemon.com has announced that stores will be giving out a Ho-Oh figurine to people who preorder HeartGold and a Lugia figurine to people who preorder SoulSilver. The figures are the same two that Japanese players were given for their preorders of the individual games, though it does not seem likely that purchasing both games will grant players the bonus Arceus figurine as well since it was already given out to people who bought Platinum at Gamestop stores this past Black Friday. Click the thumbnails below for larger versions.

We have obtained images of the Pokemon Prime Feraligatr, Meganium, and Typhlosion from the upcoming HeartGold & SoulSilver set thanks to Nate and Matt. Click the thumbnails below for larger images. Feraligatr is card #108/123, Meganium is #109, and Typhlosion is #110. These cards will be featured with new artwork when they are released as tins next month, which we reported back in December.

As a reminder, Ampharos, Blissey, and Donphan will also be Pokemon Prime included in the set. Our set is based off the Japanese LEGEND: HeartGold and SoulSilver Collection, though several cards, including Pokemon Prime Ursaring and Crobat, will be cut from the English release. We predict that our May HGSS set will be a combination of the cut HGSS cards from this set, the Japanese Battle Starter Decks, the Japanese Expert Deck Leafeon vs. Metagross package, and random promos such as Pokemon Prime Slowking. Then, Revived Legends, the next Japanese set, will be our third HGSS set in August.

I know I always post personal, crazy stories but there's no news and this one is just so entertaining! :p You don't have to read it of course... maybe if you're bored you'll want to?

So as some of you may remember, my laptop was stolen on Christmas Eve at Fry's Electronics. The cops went through the security tapes to see who stole it, but the cameras conveniently shut off right where it was probably taken. I started to use my ancient, in-multiple-pieces laptop as a substitute, but it was a real hassle to take to class and extremely slow. Luckily, my youngest brother is now letting me use the brand new laptop he got for Christmas, and so I've been updating the site with it for the past week. Thank goodness he's letting me keep it for now since I wouldn't be able to make all those large news stories or do any homework in a reasonable amount of time.

My aunt, who is blind, broke her hearing aids last week so I went to her house today to help her with the new ones. While I was there, I knew Pokemon Sunday would be revealing the mysterious question mark from last week, so I walked around the neighborhood looking for a free Wi-Fi signal to update the site. I found one at the local high school, and though I knew PokeSun was probably just revealing Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light (which is what it turned out to be... they showed the main characters and Ukulele Pichu), I still wanted to make sure there weren't any surprises. So I sat on the street corner for a half-hour, waiting for news to come. My brother repeatedly ran down the street to get the laptop from me ("someone's going to steal my laptop!"), but I kept pushing him away and telling him nothing's going to happen. He kept grabbing it from me and we fought for a few minutes (he was being a brat all day long - even my mom was mad at him - honest! :p), but I eventually figured out how to hold it down without breaking it. He finally gave up and walked back to my aunt's house.

Less than three minutes after he was out of sight, an adult pulled up next to me on his bike and asked if I was able to get an Internet signal. I told him yes, thinking he was looking for a signal too (he must want to update his site too, naive me thought :p). While still on his bike, he leaned down toward me and asked if he could use the laptop, reaching for it simultaneously. That's when I knew something was up, so I pretended like I didn't see him do it and remained calm, telling him I was busy with something and could not accommodate him. Since I was calm and staring at the screen, he figured I hadn't seen him, so he told me he wanted to show me something funny on the Internet in a second attempt to get me to hand it over. "It really is funny, you should see it!" Again, I said I'm busy and not interested, but he continued to hunch his body toward it.

He took the plunge and grabbed the laptop with both hands! Still remaining calm, I asked in an annoyed but polite voice, as if this was no big deal, "Do you mind?!!" He was actually grabbing it rather violently and pushing me, but I was able to keep it down as I had done so a few minutes earlier with my brother. I kept thinking to myself, "I'm not losing two laptops in one month, dang it!" I still acted like this was no big deal even though I was clearly being mugged. In a flash, his face turned completely furious. His entire demeanor changed. This is when I got a little scared. He turned his head to look around... as if he was about to do something. Just as quickly, he unzipped his jacket and reached for something in one of the pockets. He held his fingers in a way that I thought it might be a knife. Before he could get his fingers in the pocket, I jumped up and screamed at the top of my lungs, "Would you please leave me alone!!" He obviously wasn't expecting me to yell that loud (I've had a lifetime of practice with my brothers), and just like that, he took off like a Zubat out of the Reverse World - so fast that I barely remember him leaving.

I walked up the street slowly and kept looking over my shoulder to make sure he didn't see where I was going even though he had gone down another street. I walked in to my aunt's house and said I was almost mugged, but my brother and dad just laughed, thinking I was kidding since I was acting too calm and because my brother had just warned me that would happen (that little brat - how dare he be right about something!). They realized I wasn't faking it when I walked straight to the phone and dialed 9-1-1. After a few cops came to the house, we learned that a man on a bike has been robbing people with a knife for the past few weeks, though they wouldn't tell us if anyone had actually been stabbed (this was on the outskirts of L.A., by the way). If this was a Pokemon episode, my Pidgeotto would find him, Pikachu would shock him, Officer Jenny would arrest him, and we'd find out he is part of the same evil syndicate that stole my laptop a month earlier! But alas, to this moment, they still have not found him. I was also a bad witness and could not remember what he looked like since I was looking at my laptop most of the time and because it happened so fast, so he probably won't be found. :(

Lesson #1! If you're getting mugged, yell loud to draw attention to yourself and the bad guy! Lesson #2: Remain calm! Lesson #3: Don't act stupid like me and put yourself into a situation like this in the first place! I was an idiot to advertise the laptop on the street. Lesson #4: Probably give them what they want in the first place? In this case, I didn't have to since the guy was kind of chubby and he put his bike wheel right next to me, so even if he had pulled out a knife or gun, all I had to do was kick him and his bike over... but that's probably not always the case.

CoroCoro's Movie 13 Page

Yaminokame has looked closer at CoroCoro's movie 13 page, discovering that it makes two very interesting statements concerning their next issue. Yaminokame has translated them as, "There will be a top-secret revealing of a Pokemon that will appear in the movie!!" and "A Pokemon that anyone would be surprised at is making an appearance in the movie!" The description is a little unorthodox, so what could it mean - new Pokemon, old Pokemon, something we aren't expecting? We'll find out a month from now! Typically, CoroCoro reveals new Pokemon to be included in the movies in their February issues anyway.

CoroCoro's Movie 13 Page

Update #2 (11:30 PM): The CoroCoro page with 13th movie information contains nothing we don't already know. Looks like we won't have any "world-first" news from them until at least next month's issue.

According to the Japanese blog Newsroom, a new Pokemon Ranger game, Tracks of Light, will be released on March 6th in Japan for the DS. On the day the game is released, players will be able to download a special Deoxys mission to obtain the D.N.A. Pokemon, which can then be transferred to Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver.

The game's announcement will be in this month's CoroCoro (which is where the info is stated to have come from), and scans of the issue should be leaked on the Internet sometime during the next few days. It will probably be announced on this week's Pokemon Sunday as well, since they are set to make a major announcement during the show's game segment. This information is not confirmed as of yet because it comes from a Japanese blog, so hang tight until we receive official confirmation! Thanks go to Bangiras for the translations above!

As for this month's CoroCoro, we're supposed to be getting "world-first" news related to the 13th Pokemon movie. The news could either be a new Pokemon (though it's probably still too early in the year), plot details, a revealing of the hidden Celebi event in HeartGold and SoulSilver, or perhaps even something about the Lock / Rock Capsule. Whatever it may be, we'll find out soon, so be sure to check back!

(Update @ 2:00 AM): CoroCoro scans leaked on to the Internet have confirmed the information posted above. Bangiras has translated the information below. As stated before, this is probably the big news Pokemon Sunday is going to announce this week. Click the thumbnails below for larger images.

Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light in CoroCoro Magazine Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light in CoroCoro Magazine
  • The game takes place in the Oblivia region, a range of islands - you can see a picture of it in the top left of the first scan. Many ruins are said to sleep on these islands.
  • A sinister gang appears all over Oblivia chasing after Pokemon. The evil team is named the "Pokemon-nappers" and their leader is "Red Eye." He is the blond man with the streak of red hair.
  • Your partner is apparently a Pichu that holds a Ukulele, appropriately called "Ukulele Pichu."
  • There is a secret to the Deoxys you can obtain from the downloaded mission, which will be revealed in the next issue.
  • There is a new feature called the "Ranger Sign," which is an upgrade you can get for the Capture Styler during the game. If you successfully draw a specific pattern with your stylus, a Pokemon will come out to assist you. "Connect with the hearts of specific Pokemon to summon them!" You'll obtain various signs over the course of your adventure. On the second page under the Deoxys artwork, you can see the patterns to call Eevee and Croagunk, and you can see some of the patterns for the Legendary Beasts above them on the opposite page.
  • You can use your Pokemon via PokeAssist to help capture wild Pokemon, but if one of the wild Pokemon's attacks hits your Pokemon, it will run away. This is shown in the bottom left of the first scan.
  • When Entei, Suicune, and Raikou assist you, you ride on their backs to overcome obstacles. It appears this will be the case for other Pokemon too, such as Latias.
  • Up to four players can play special missions together to capture Pokemon, as seen in the bottom right of the second page. Successfully capturing Pokemon involves connecting lines you draw with the lines your friends draw.
  • A demo of the game will be available at DS Download Stations in Japan starting January 29th.
  • The new CoroCoro has announced the "Event" PokeWalker course, which will be available for download from 1/29 - 2/28. This course features Sableye, Pikachu, Chatot, Croagunk, Buneary, and Pachirisu.
  • On the subject of PokeWalker events, starting today, HeartGold and SoulSilver players will be able to download the "Champ Road" course over Nintendo Wi-Fi. Previously available at Pokemon tournaments, the course features Munchlax, Beldum, Bronzor, Horsea, and Magikarp, all with uncommon moves. The download is only available from 1/13 - 1/27.

Spiky-Eared Pichu and Pikachu-Colored Pichu

Pokemon.com has announced that players with Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum will be able to download a special shiny Pichu, "Pikachu-Colored Pichu," from January 30th to February 14th at Gamestop. When traded to HeartGold or SoulSilver, you can take the Pichu to Ilex Forest where another Pichu, "Spiky-Eared Pichu," will join your party and become one of your Pokemon.

Once you obtain Spiky-Eared Pichu, you will find out it cannot evolve into Pikachu or be traded. According to Professor Elm, the Pichu has traveled through time with Celebi for far too long, which is why its ear is spiky. He calls all the Pokemon Centers and tells them not to allow it to be traded, and therefore it cannot leave the game (though the real reason is probably due to its unique sprite, which past games do not have in their data).

If they are the same as their Japanese counterparts, the shiny Pichu from Gamestop will know Charge, Volt Tackle, Endeavor, and Endure while the Spiky-Eared Pichu from HGSS will have Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, Swagger, and Pain Split.

New Pokemon.com Website

Pokemon.com, Go-Pokemon.com, and Pokemon-Games.com have all been combined into a new and completely redesigned Pokemon.com website. This probably explains why players could not login to their My Pokemon accounts for long periods during the past couple of months. You can read more about the new redesign below:

Bellevue, WA- January 11, 2010 --- The Pokémon Company International announces today the complete re-launch of the online Pokémon universe with the new and improved Pokémon.com. Providing fans with a comprehensive entertainment destination for all things Pokémon, the new site brings together Pokémon animation, video games and the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), like never before. The new site will introduce free online mini-games, episodes of the popular animated series, a fully interactive Pokédex, a "Pokémon Trainer Club", all the latest news and more. The new Pokémon.com gives visitors a user-friendly layout, improved functionality and the first one-stop destination in Pokémon history.

"Pokémon.com unifies the Pokémon experience under one roof, providing fans with a fun entertainment destination where they can play mini-games, watch Pokémon animation, and explore the Pokémon universe," said J.C. Smith, director of marketing. "The re-launch of the site includes a number of exciting new features and functions with an emphasis on being a fun and parent-approved place to visit online."

To celebrate the new site's launch and highlight one of its most important additions - the "Pokémon Episode Viewer" - Pokémon.com will showcase the very first season of the animated series, which is now in its 12th season. Each week, new episodes of the series will air allowing fans to see where it all began. This schedule will continue beyond the first season, giving younger fans a chance to follow the series in its entirety for the first time.

The Pokémon Fun Zone, a new totally immersive and free casual games area of the site, allows kids to play mini-games and collect Trainer Tokens, rewarding fans for time spent on the site. These mini-games are quick to pick up and play, but are challenging enough to keep Pokémon fans entertained for hours. For example, in Pachirisu's Click-Clack Attack, players must shoot pucks into corner pockets of the playing board. You can earn bonus points by deflecting the pucks into each other to sink more than one in a single shot. And there are already plans to add more fun titles to keep Pokémon fans coming back for more.

Additional areas to access in the Pokémon Fun Zone include: a Trainer Builder, which allows users to completely customize their personal Trainers; a Trainer Store, where they can buy new gear for their Trainers; and a downloads page for wallpapers and screensavers.

Additional highlights fans can expect on the site include:

- The most current and up-to-date news announcements featuring information on video game character distributions, Pokémon promotions and partnerships

- The ability to keep track of Pokémon Organized Play ratings and stay aware of upcoming local Pokémon TCG and Video Game events

- New ways to search through the Pokédex containing all 493 current Pokémon including new artwork from the upcoming Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Versions

- Updated search functionality in the Pokémon TCG card database that lets players search 2,500+ cards by sorting from more than a dozen different card elements

- The first place to find information on the eagerly anticipated 2010 Pokémon Video Game and TCG World Championships and other Pokémon tournaments

The news of the website re-launch comes in advance of some eagerly anticipated product launches for Pokémon in 2010, including the February 10 release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion, the March 14 release of the Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version video games for the Nintendo DS™, and the DVD release of the brand-new, feature-length film, Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life.

Pokémon is one of the top children's franchises in history. The Pokémon video game series has sold more than 197 million units worldwide since its inception 13 years ago. Additionally, Pokémon is one of the top collectible trading card games of all time. Other extensions of the property include 12 seasons of the animated television series, which is currently broadcast in as many as 153 countries in more than 25 languages. Pokémon films and DVDs continue to reach fans in amazing numbers, ranking at the top of the box office in Japan.

With thanks to Heerosferret for notifying us, Pokemon Sunday also revealed the six LEGEND cards that make the three Legendary Pokemon of Revived Legends, the upcoming Japanese set to be released on February 11th. As we revealed in November, the three Legendary Pokemon cards are comprised of two different Pokemon, being Entei, Suicune, or Raikou, and are named Entei & Raikou LEGEND, Suicune & Entei LEGEND, and Raikou & Suicune LEGEND.

Previously, Lugia LEGEND and Ho-Oh LEGEND were created from two halves of themselves, but these Legendary Pokemon use two different Pokemon instead. When combined, each Legendary Pokemon card has two types, two attacks, and two weaknesses. With a huge thanks to my friend nYoo from Filb.de, we have a screenshot of the cards below, which you can click for a much larger version.

Don't forget to read the previous story about Pokemon Sunday's announcement for next week! They're going to reveal something on a poster board, which they have covered up with a question mark for now.
