Dialga vs. Palkia! - The 10th Pokemon movie will not only be featuring Dialga and Palkia, but now Darkrai as well. A CoroCoro magazine scan posted on Filb.de has confirmed the news, and another scan contains the official Ken Sugimori artwork of the Darkness legendary, seen below (A Darkness Pokemon revealed on Valentine's Day - heh :p). The official Japanese Pokemon movie site has also been updated to reflect the changes in Pokemon that will appear in the movie. Click the thumbnails below for a larger picture of each scan.

EDIT #4: eI_at10s has sent us better quality images of those holo League energy from the other day, and they look completely different. You can see them under the sprites of the D/P Pokemon.

EDIT #3: Pochama controversy! One product image called Pochama, Pochama, but another image (and all the pog images, for that matter) shows it as something else, ending in a Y and having a name much shorter than "Pochama." What will Pochama's name be? The two different names are a testament to the fact that all of the D/P names are still tentative, since the products the names are taken off of will not be released for months to come (plus the fact that Pachirisu does not sound like it would be suitable for American audiences, at least in my opinion).

EDIT #2: And yet another new image has helped us to further clarify some of the English names below.

EDIT: A new image has helped us to further clarify some of the English names below.

English Diamond and Pearl Names - In New York right now, the 2007 Toy Fair is currently taking place, with Jakks-Pacific presenting a whole new line of Pokemon toys for Diamond and Pearl! We sent Blastoise-shellshocker to the event last night, but it was closed, and we asked him to go again this morning (since he lives so close). However, he discovered that the event is only open to the public media and industrial companies, and only they are allowed to attend the show (which we did not know earlier...). Luckily, some websites are covering the event, such as ASM, and have taken several pictures of the Diamond and Pearl merchandise, which you can view in a gallery here. One of the product images for a pog matching game shows several pogs lain out across a display, with English Diamond and Pearl Pokemon names on them, and you can view the image with those names by clicking here! While the names are not final yet and are still tentative, considering that this event is to show future items that have the potential of changing, several of the Pokemon names are distinguishable, and we have them listed for you below (some may be off by a little, since some of the names are extremely hard to read and can be misconstrued). Hopefully later tonight, we will receive a higher-quality image, or at least more information. Names in bold are correct for sure, names with dashes after them are partial, and everything else is subject to change or we are unsure if the names are read correctly from the image above. The sprites below the list are in the same order as the names before them, and if you want to see more Diamond and Pearl sprites, you can view our D/P Sprite Gallery.

  1. Naetle - Turtwig
  2. Hizokaru - Chimchar
  3. Pochama - Two different images say different names. One is Pochama, and the other is something else.
  4. Nyarmar - Glameow
  5. Karanakushi - Shelios or Snelios
  6. Elekible - Electivire
  7. Beappa - ???
  8. Fuwaride - ???
  9. Tatetops - Shieldon
  10. Perap - Chatot
  11. Kolink - Spinx
  12. Scorpi - Scorp---
  13. Pachirisu - Pachirisu
  14. Flowsel - Floatsel
  15. Koroboshi - Kricketot
  16. Subomie - Bud---
  17. Mimirol - Buneary
  18. Mukurru - Starly
  19. Greggle - Croalurk
  20. Pinpuku - Happini

It looks like we are going to begin doing podcasts sometime soon, since every single person who posted about the idea yesterday said, "Yes!" to it. We honestly are not sure how we are going to do them or what we are going to do them on, so if you have any suggestions (especially for the first podcast), please feel free to post in this story's news thread!

2007 Spring TCG TinsEX Spring Tins Update - As mentioned in the news story on February 7th, three new EX tins will be released in March (for around $14 each, not $20), featuring Milotic, Camerupt, and Tyranitar on the actual tins. We now know that the tins will come packaged with holo versions of past EX POP cards, including Celebi ex, Ho-Oh ex, and Tyranitar ex. These tins are supposed to also come with one of three Diamond and Pearl Pokemon cards, but they apparently will not be the featured cards within the tins, since as the image shows on the right (click for a larger picture), the holo Exs are in the window of each tin. Hopefully we will find out soon what D/P Pokemon are available in the tins!

Seismic Toss a Wailord? - Wailord are huge and heavy Pokemon, and you would think that it would be near impossible to use Seismic Toss on one (if Pokemon were real, that is - you can definitely use the move on it in the games). The video below is a funny, 15-second clip from Pokemon Battle Revolution in which a Blissey lifts the huge Pokemon and successfully performs Seismic Toss on it, without even breaking a sweat! It is kind of funny how a small Blissey (by comparison) can perform such an attack on the largest Pokemon in existence. If you have not seen the attack animation before, you will be amazed at the improvements PBR has made to previous games!

A year ago and two months ago, we tried to do a podcast, but it never was finished (well, it was, but.... oh, nevermind). Should PokeBeach do a podcast? Give your opinion in this story's news thread. If we are to do one, it will not just be for the TCG (it's so boring to talk about strategies for a whole podcast), it will be the Anime, Games, and other aspects of Pokemon.

Pokemon League Holo Energy - At Pokemon League, if you earn your season badge or complete the season's challenge, you will receive a card with a redemption code. Using the redemption code and your "My Pokemon" account, you can receive a pack of holo energy containing one energy of each basic energy type. If you have already ordered the energy, you should be receiving them any day. Thanks to Sandslash7, we now have (semi-good) scans of each of the energy. Click the images below for larger pictures, and hover over the right or left side of the images to scroll through them.

Umbreon * and Espeon *
Espeon * and Umbreon * Translations - As we know from yesterday, Espeon * and Umbreon * will be available in POP 5. Thanks to Nanimonoka, we now have the English translations of the Japanese cards, which you can read below.

Espeon * - 70 HP [P]

PokePower: Purple Ray - Once during your turn (before you attack), when you play Espeon * from your hand onto your Bench, each Defending Pokemon is now Confused.
[P][P][C] Psychic Boom 30+ - Does 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each Energy attached to the Defending Pokemon.

Weakness: [P]
Retreat: [C]

Umbreon * 70 HP [D]

PokePower: Dark Ray - Once during your turn, when you play Umbreon * from your hand onto your Bench, choose 1 card from your opponent's hand without looking and discard it.
[D][D] Feint Attack - Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. This attack does 30 damage to that Pokemon. This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness, Resistance, Poke-Powers, Poke-Bodies, or any other effects on the Defending Pokemon.

Weakness: [F]
Resistance: -30 [P]
Retreat Cost - [C]

Gathering the Gang of Four! - This episode was pretty good, with some breaking of the fourth law lines. Officer Jenny's new voice actor sounds like the original Jenny from Season 1, and the music selection was excellent. One mistake I noticed, though, was that in the flashback scene with Charizard vs. Articuno, Ash was wearing his old Kanto clothes, even though the Charizard vs. Articuno episode was one of the first Battle Frontier episodes. That's the second time the animators have incorrectly given him the correct clothes, the first time being in the "World of Pokemon" movie intro where he is wearing his official clothing when receiving Pikachu, even though he was in his pajamas. To watch the episode, [click here]. It will only be up for viewing for a temporary time. Next week, "The Final Frontier" airs on Cartoon Network at 9:30 AM, so be sure to catch it! It features Regice and Brandon in their last battle with Ash!

EDIT: Added "Mystery of the Lakes" story.

Anyone interested in me creating a section on PokeBeach for the background / classical music of Pokemon?

EDIT:Mystery of the Lakes Decks / Boosters - The Mystery of the Lakes, the next Japanese set featuring the Sinnoh trio of Yuxie, Emurit, and Agnome, has had its booster pack and theme decks revealed. You can view the pictures below. Remember, the set will be released March 2nd in Japan, and we will most likely reveal everything about the set to you like we always do. More info later!

Mystery of the Lakes

POP 5 News - Exclusive news on POP 5 at 12:30 in the morning! POP 5 will be released March 11th and will contain 17 promo cards. You can view the mostly complete list below. In Japan, a Player Club Program exists where you can earn both Espeon * and Umbreon *, but only if you accumulate 40,000 points (for Espeon) and 70,000 points (for Umbreon). To put the rarity of the cards into perspective, you earn only 100 points for participating in TCG tournaments in Japan. Umbreon * is undoubtedly one of the rarest Japanese promos in existence (less than 10, maybe even 5, of the cards even exist), but since the cards in POP 5 are non-holo, the Japanese holo version of the cards will most likely not diminish in value. Click the thumbnail of the two cards for a larger image.

1-4, 16, and 17 are rare; 5-9 are uncommon; and 10-15 are common.

Lucario a Finalist! - As we covered in a previous news story, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was selected as an option for the American Anime Awards' "Best Anime Feature" category. The results are in, and it has been nominated as one of the five finalists in the group! To read more about the American Anime Awards, taking place at Comic-con in New York, click here. The ultimate winner of the category will be announced February 24th. And people say Pokemon is dead...

Expect a Modified Card-Dex update within the next week or so. DocRobot is helping me with it, since I (temporarily) do not have the time to work on site projects. My time is gone with the wind.

EX Power Keepers Theme Deck Lists - The [EX Power Keepers] [theme deck lists] are now available for viewing. I previously neglected to add the EX Dragon Frontiers theme deck lists, so those are also now on our [Theme Deck lists] page.

Updated Apprentice Patch - For those of you who use Apprentice to play the Pokemon TCG on the internet, you can find an updated EX Power Keepers patch on our Apprentice page. If you would like to download the program for the first time, check out Apprentice and its uses by reading about it in the above link. Thanks go to SpyRevenge for updating the patch to EX Power Keepers!

2007 Spring TCG Tins2007 Spring TCG Tins - In March, three new tins will be available at local stores, such as Target, retailing for around $20. Each will contain four booster packs, including two of EX Power Keepers, one of EX Delta Species, and one of EX Dragon Frontiers. The tins will also come with 1 of 3 Pokemon TCG: Diamond & Pearl preview cards (and that is the official sentence used from the press release, so the set name could be either TCG: Diamond and Pearl or just Diamond and Pearl, if that's what the press release is hinting at). Click the picture on the right for a larger image of the tins, featuring Milotic, Camerupt, and Tyranitar.

American Manaphy DVD Cover - The DVD artwork for Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, which will be released on April 3rd for around $20, can be seen below. The artwork is almost exactly the same as the Japanese cover, which I have placed next to the American artwork for comparison, spare some cropping, slight moving of a few elements, and the obvious logo change. The DVD will unfortunately only come in a cropped full screen edition (1.33:1), cutting off a major portion of the movie's original picture. Hopefully in the future, a widescreen edition of Pokemon movies will make themselves available (come on Viz... you know you can do it... this isn't the 1990s anymore where people mistakenly think widescreen is horrible and fullscreen is what DVDs should come in... at least I hope so... :p).

Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea

Random Videos - I was bored today during math class, so I went on to YouTube with my laptop and randomly found two cool videos. The first one features a battle between legendaries and some magician guy on Pokemon Battle Revolution (new Pokemon include Darkrai and Dialga, with older shiny legendaries), and the second one is the ending of the Manaphy movie, but without the Japanese credits covering everything. Click play on whichever one you want to view.

The episode will be up later tonight tomorrow.

All EX Power Keepers Scans - Thanks to MvdV, we now have all of our missing EX Power Keepers scans! To view all 108 scans, as well as the full set list, [click here]. While we have the officially released image of Jolteon *, we would still like the actual holo scan, so if anyone has Jolteon *, please scan it at 300 DPI and send it to wpm@pokebeach.com. If anyone has the theme deck lists as well, please send them to the same address. Thank you!

I fell asleep a few hours after coming home from school yesterday, and just woke up now, so sorry for not putting more scans up yesterday. Sleep > School > Pokemon. :p Also, the Valentine's day banner is now up! If you do not see the new background and/or the Squirtle and Luvdisc, clear your cache and refresh! Cascade_Gon_Pory drew the two Pokemon in the corner, and he did an awesome job with them! The new episode airing today on Cartoon Network will also either be put up here tonight or tomorrow, so if you miss it, be sure to check back here!

100 EX Power Keepers Scans - More EX Power Keepers scans, yet again! To view the complete set list and most of the scans, [click here]! If you can supply scans after your pre-releases today (after you receive your Cacturne pre-release card), please scan them at 300 DPI in JPG format, and send them to wpm@pokebeach.com. When you go to your pre-releases and people ask you how you know so much about this set, be sure to tell them where you learned it. :p

New Meji Promos - Meiji Promo Set No. 6 will be out in Japan on February 20th, and will contain twelve reprinted [Pokemon Card Game: DP] cards, but with alternate artwork. You can view the card packaging by clicking here.

EDIT #2:Yay! I was accepted to one of my back-up colleges, University of California, Riverside (this is my first college acceptance so far, and it's early). I want to go to either UCLA or UCI, but this is good news for now! *imagines updating from college, if the world isn't blown up by then* :D

EDIT:There is a 99% chance that I have too much homework tonight and will not get to update again until tomorrow night (1% chance that a castle in the sky fires electricity at Earth and no one makes it to Friday).

There is a 99.2% chance more EX Power Keepers scans will grace this site tomorrow (0.8% chance that Lrrr and Ndnd of Omicron Persei VIII attack Earth and no one makes it to tomorrow).

60+ EX Power Keepers Scans, Full Set List - We now have over sixty exclusive EX Power Keepers scans, with more coming tomorrow! The full set list is also now available! You can view both the scans and set list by [clicking here]. Steven's Advice makes its triumphant return to the modified format (maybe even Energy Draw Delcatty)! Note: The energy types on the set list may have some errors since (a) not all the scans are available yet, and (b), it's 10 PM and I have Bio, English, and Spanish homework to do still, since I just came home from after school classes and eating, and did not have time to triple-check the list. Check back again tomorrow for more scans and information!
