We have received word that America's XY3 set is named Furious Fist and will be released in stores on August 13th. The set is obviously our equivalent to Japan's Rising Fist (below), of which we know very little about at this point.

Worlds is August 16th to 17th, which means this set would be legal for the tournament (assuming our date is correct - Plasma Blast was released on August 14th last year). Unless TPCi really wants to make Worlds competitive and spontaneous, one would assume the set won't be legal since there is such a short window to buy the cards and Pokemon fans would be out for blood and raiding Wal-Marts. Then again that would be pretty funny and give a whole new meaning to the set's name. On the plus side, it would be a truer test of a Pokemon player's skills to figure out how to use the set under such tight circumstances and would also give prerelease tournaments a major boost in attendance. Not to mention make things more fun!

We'll of course let you know when the set's official release date is as soon as Pokemon announces it, so stay tuned!

The contents of the promo pack that is given to players who attend May to July's Gym Challenge tournaments has been revealed! The pack contains Shiftry, Meowstic, Tyrunt, Krookodile-EX, Spheal, Skrelp, Sliggoo, Enhanced Hammer, a reverse holo Foul Play Coin, and reverse holo Grass, Fire, and Darkness Energy. Spheal, Skrelp, and Sliggoo are alternate art reprints from Flashfire.

Tyrunt's card needs Jaw Fossil to work, but the card has not been released yet. It will undoubtedly be in Rising Fist.

Stage 2 - Evolves from Nuzleaf

[G] Wind Dredge: 30+ damage. Look at your opponent's hand. You may choose a Pokemon you find there and have your opponent put it on the bottom of his or her deck. If you do, this attack does 30 more damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Meowstic XY Promo

Meowstic - Psychic - HP90
Stage 1 - Evolves from Espurr

Ability: Mysterious Ears
If this Pokemon is your Active Pokemon and is damaged by an opponent's attack (even if this Pokemon is Knocked Out), the Attacking Pokemon is now Confused.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Tyrunt XY Promo

Tyrunt - Fighting - HP90
Restored Pokemon - Put this card onto your Bench only with the effect of Jaw Fossil.

Krookodile-EX XY Promo

Krookodile-EX - Darkness - HP180
Basic Pokemon

[D][C][C] Second Bite: 40+ damage. Does 10 more damage for each damage counter on your opponent's Active Pokemon.
[D][D][C][C] Megaton Fang: 130 damage. Discard 1 card from your hand. (If you can't, this attack does nothing.)

As we posted a while ago, a new "Charizard-EX Box" would be released on May 7th to accompany Flashfire‘s English release. Some stores are already selling it, as you can see below - Charizard-EX is XY promo #17. The box comes with four booster packs and Charizard-EX as both a holo jumbo and holo promo. Charizard-EX was originally released in the March 15th issue of CoroCoro magazine in Japan.

According to Android Police, those who completed the Google Maps Pokemon challenge on April Fools Day and found all 151 Pokemon will be sent a gift in the mail from Google. Once you fill out your contact information, Google promises to send it in 4-6 weeks. What do you think it will be? Maybe a promo card? A code to download a Pokemon? Something related to Google?

I've updated SteveP's deck list program with Flashfire and the latest XY promos. The cards aren't legal for tournaments until the set's May 7th release date, but at least now the program will be ready for you when you need it! Make sure you clear your cache before accessing the program or it will use the old data file stored in your browser.

Pokemon Art Academy has been announced for the 3DS. The game teaches you how to draw Pokemon through various lessons, starting with easy Pokemon designs and eventually leading to harder ones where you have to draw more complicated Pokemon. You can of course share your artwork on Miiverse. No international release has been announced yet, but the game will be available at stores and for download in Japan on June 19th for 3,619 yen.

The new Ken Sugimori art book will be released a few weeks before this game.

Update (11:00 PM) - Long day on a film shoot, but all Flashfire scans are now up! Thank you to those of you who sent in your scans!

Since I'm leaving for a remote film shoot with no Internet access and the first prereleases have already concluded in Singapore, we're now posting our 95+ Flashfire scans! Thanks goes to Torterra Chips, ZardGod, Anyone4Buttons, Benjamin F., and Aaron R. for the scans below! The set is our equivalent of Japan's Wild Blaze. As expected, there are no surprises - the set is exactly what we thought it would be.

To find a prerelease near you, check out the event locator on Pokemon's website. The tournaments are this weekend and next, so don't miss out! How can you NOT want to pick up all these Charizard cards early?

To discuss this set, check out this thread on our forums!

Update (Friday, 12 PM) - McDonalds has announced the promotion on their website and has revealed pictures of the toys, which are called "battle launchers." The promotion will start May 23rd and lasts until June 12th. The picture of the toys is below.

In May and June or so, McDonalds in the U.S. will be packaging Pokemon toys and TCG cards in its Happy Meals once again. Every Happy Meal will come with a Pokemon toy and one of 12 TCG cards. Toys confirmed so far are Pikachu, Xerneas, Yveltal, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

Going by France's recent McDonalds promotion, we will probably get English versions of the reprinted cards below, which all come from the Kalos Starter Set and XY. Most McDonalds will sell the toy / card for $1.50 if you don't want to order their crap heart disease salt and grease food. Eh hem. Thanks goes to one of our forum staff members for this news who is a manager at McDonalds (but wishes to remain anonymous) and CartasZone for the French scans!

Update (9:45 PM) - Added a "Foul Play Coin" promo below. Thanks goes to Viper.Fox for the heads up!

Like Greninja-EX over the past two months, players who attend Gym Challenge tournaments in Japan between May and July will receive a special 12-card promo pack that comes with a Krookodile-EX promo and a new Trainer promo called Foul Play Coin. The other 10 promos have not been revealed yet. The Krookodile image below is too low-quality to translate, but we'll probably see a larger image in a few days. Thanks goes to Franco T. for the translation!

Krookodile-EX Promo Foul Play Coin Promo

Foul Play Coin - Trainer
Item

Pokemon Tool: Attach a Pokemon Tool to 1 of your Pokemon that doesn’t already have a Pokemon Tool attached to it.

Once during your turn, after you flip any coins for an attack on the Pokemon this card is attached to, you may ignore all effects of those coin flips and begin flipping those coins again. You can only use an effect from a card that re-flips coins once per turn.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).
