Revived Legends
Revived Legends is the second HeartGold and SoulSilver set and was released in Japan on February 11th. This is the second time in the TCG’s history that there is a large gap between sets, as LEGEND: HeartGold & SoulSilver was released back at the beginning of October and this set will be released four months later. However, the gap is likely caused by the recent release of the Battle Starter Decks and Expert Deck Leafeon vs. Metagross package.
General Information
- The Legendary Pokemon cards are “Entei & Raikou LEGEND,” “Suicune & Entei LEGEND,” and “Raikou & Suicune LEGEND.” Instead of two halves of one Pokemon making one Legendary Pokemon card like the last set’s Ho-Oh LEGEND and Lugia LEGEND, this time a Legendary Pokemon card is created from two different Pokemon. Their card images were revealed on Pokemon Sunday on its January 10th show.
- For this set, the LEGEND cards have the EX rule – if they are Knocked Out, your opponent takes two prizes.
- Pokemon Prime included in the set are Tyranitar, Steelix, Kingdra, and Lanturn. The first HGSS set did not have any Darkness or Metal types, so this set will introduce them to the LEGEND era.
- Two 60-card decks named “Standard Deck Steelix (Steel)” and “Standard Deck Tyranitar (Darkness)” will be released with this set. The Steelix deck will feature a holo Steelix, holo Scizor (Prime), Scyther, and Pinsir. The Tyranitar deck will contain a holo Tyranitar, holo Houndoom (Prime), Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan. Each deck will cost 1500 yen, or about 15 dollars.
- Interestingly, Scyther was the first card revealed from this set, though not from any official Pokemon website or fansite. A computer website featured an interview with Pokemon TCG director Wataru Kawahara and TCG illustrator Shinji Higuchi, who worked on the card’s artwork together, posted its card image.
- Cards included in the Tyranitar theme deck are Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Larvitar, Pupitar, Murkrow, Honchkrow, Houndour, Houndoom, Tyranitar (1 holo, 1 non-holo), Stunky, Skuntank, Energy Exchange Unit, Pokemon Reversal, Professor Elm’s Training Method, Professor Oak’s New Theory, Pokemon Collector, Bill, Team Rocket’s Handiwork, and Special Darkness Energy.
- Cards included in the Steelix theme deck are Scyther, Pinsir, Pineco, Tropius, Onix, Foretress, Steelix (1 holo, 1 non-holo), Scizor, Aron, Lairon, Energy Exchange Unit, Switch, Moo Moo Milk, Professor Elm’s Training Method, Professor Oak’s New Theory, Monk’s Training, Pokemon Collector, Bill, and Special Metal Energy.
