EDIT #3: I’m going to go take the SAT Subject Tests in about an hour or so, so when I get back in about three hours, I will post up news, updates, and the episode that will air today. Also, for those of you who are high school Juniors, keep in mind that the late registration deadline for the June SAT test is next Wednesday. :p

EDIT #2: The next set’s name is EX Crystal Guardians (aka Miracle Crystal).

EDIT: I have been busier this week than I planned to be. We have an AP US final, AP US test, SAT II test, and some art project thing for Spanish class. Next week I have AP/IB Psychology testing. So, I’m not sure when I can update next. I’ll try to throw something together tomorrow or the day after, but no guarantees.

Lots of chaos going on right now with the old Pokemon voice actors. I’ve got a lot to say about it too. Tomorrow we will have TCG stuff.

E-mail from Veronica Taylor (Ash/May):I have just received information that needs to get out to as many people as possible right away. If it’s not too much trouble, could you forward this? Thanks!!!!

At this moment Cartoon Network is talking with Pokemon USA and Nintendo about negotiating a deal for next season. Whether they know that the show they potentially acquire is a very badly done ‘fake’ is unknown. We need as many people as possible to flood them with emails letting them know that the ‘special’ we all saw on Saturday was beyond unacceptable. The actors, other than being lackluster and unable to fit the flap, lacked any emotion or character. The script was amateurish and flat. There was no direction. The Pokemon themselves all sounded incredibly different from the original show and video games. It was more violent than any other Pokemon episode has ever been. It was in no way up to the standards which have been set over the past eight years by 4kids, Nintendo and the WB. Are we all expected to simply sit by as Pokemon USA lies to everyone, saying the show will be “exactly the same”, even though they have replaced every single element? We have now seen, through the fiasco which was the 10th anniversary special, that this is far from the truth. Please send emails immediately to the two executives at Turner Network (below) and warn them before they make a mistake they will certainly regret for a very long time. Bring Pokemon back to 4kids before it’s too late.
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
Veronica Taylor

This is the kind of stuff fans should include in their messages:

I understand that Cartoon Network is negotiating to acquire the rights to Pokémon. If it’s not too late—heed this word of advice – make sure that Pokémon USA does not sell you an inferior product.

This past weekend Kids WB! aired a Pokémon TV special that was NOT produced by 4Kids Productions . The show was amateurish and embarrassing. Voices were terrible. Acting was horrible. The writing was extremely bad. The music was inappropriate and the sound mix was painful. It seemed like children and non-professionals were producing the show.

Fans want the “authentic” Pokémon experience, not a cheap imitation. If you acquire the series from Pokémon Company and they do not continue to use 4Kids to produce the series – -you will be buying a series that will rate poorly and destroy the franchise.

Don’t waste your money. Make sure you get the real deal and not an inferior, poorly produced, embarrassing imitation. Make sure that 4Kids Productions is the production entity for the new Pokémon episodes.

Thanks for all of your support! SPREAD THE WORD!

I honestly do not think the old VAs care about the show itself. It seems like they are only concerned with getting their jobs back, and that they are using us as their servants to do it. Half of the stuff they said did not even make sense. “The Pokemon themselves all sounded incredibly different from the original show and video games.” – Uhh, no, they didn’t. All the Pokemon in the episode had their voices pulled from the Pokemon’s Recording Archive. They were all exactly the same voices that 4Kids had, just recycled clips, which is what 4Kids did too with Pokemon. And since when were Pokemon supposed to sound like their video game voices? “It was more violent than any other Pokemon episode has ever been. It was in no way up to the standards which have been set over the past eight years by 4kids, Nintendo and the WB.” Oh no, it was so violent, I was traumatized for life. My four-year old cousin who was watching it with me ran out of the room and hid under the bed, crying and screaming out how violent Pokemon is. And even if it wasn’t up to the “standards” of 4Kids, THEY WOULD HAD GOTTEN THE SPECIAL ANYWAYS and dubbed it. “Please send emails immediately to the two executives at Turner Network (below) and warn them before they make a mistake they will certainly regret for a very long time. Bring Pokemon back to 4kids before it’s too late.” Pokemon IS NOT and WILL NOT ever go back to 4Kids – their contract expired. Especially after their representatives go on forums and send out e-mails to people bashing PUSA, who has the rights to it. We are going to send out e-mails to Cartoon Network so that we can ruin our chances of ever having Pokemon on a station? What’s that going to accomplish? Pokemon will never be on the WB again – they have gotten rid of all Anime on their station. So you want us to destroy our only other medium to air it? I don’t think so.

Now time for Eric Stuart. “The show was amateurish and embarrassing. Voices were terrible. Acting was horrible. The writing was extremely bad.” I fail to see how the show was embarrassing. While I do agree that the voice actors did not do such a hot job, people need to realize that it was their FIRST time dubbing for Pokemon (some of them have been on the show before, but long ago, so at least in a while). You’re not going to be perfect the first time around, no matter how hard you try. If you listen back to the first Pokemon episode, none of the VAs even sound the same – developing into a character takes a long time and much practice, just like anything else in today’s world. They’ll get better. “The music was inappropriate and the sound mix was painful.” Oh! Oh! If I had a wooden spoon I’d use it on Eric Stuart right now. Like a 4Kids member should be talking about the selection of music. All they ever do is change the music every three seconds. The special, in my opinion and in the opinion of many fans that I have seen post, did a fantastic job with the music – they ran through full songs. With the way 4Kids used to do it, they made the show lose a lot of quality – they practically ran whole CDs of music through a blender, and mixed them into a song. “Fans want the “authentic” Pokémon experience, not a cheap imitation. If you acquire the series from Pokémon Company and they do not continue to use 4Kids to produce the series – -you will be buying a series that will rate poorly and destroy the franchise.” And here you have the evidence. If “4Kids” doesn’t produce the series, it will suck and be doomed and everyone will die and lalala. Yeah, right – you don’t care about Pokemon, you only care about your job and the money. 4Kids is one of the worst dubbing companies out there, and their edits are absolutely ridiculous at times – have people forgotten this? Why would we want the show to EVER go back to them? He was right about one thing – we do want the authentic experience. 4Kids has deprived us of that ever since mid-Kanto, and hopefully PUSA will be more “authentic” and close to the original. “Make sure that 4Kids Productions is the production entity for the new Pokémon episodes.” And yet even more proof that it’s all just about the company and jobs, and not the actual show. I wouldn’t be surprised if they knew nothing about Pokemon itself, since they can’t even get their facts straight about things like this.

I love it the most when I see how fans are showing sympathy for these people and for the show to go back to 4Kids when they are the same fans who have been bashing 4Kids for years. Yes, the show will be different with the new voice actors, and yes, it probably will take them a while to fit into their rolls. However, Pokemon will still live on. By e-mailing Cartoon Network and complaining, the only thing we will accomplish is Pokemon not airing anywhere, because it will never go back to 4Kids. Does anyone honestly believe that after everything these VAs have said that PUSA will give 4Kids the rights again? Or that the VAs themselves will go work for PUSA? They are aware of the situation, and I’ll tell you right now that they aren’t happy with the VAs trying to bash them left and right. I don’t think anyone would be happy about it. The VAs ruined the chance to dub the show on their own, and they shouldn’t be dragging us into their problems which could quite possible cause us to lose the show completely if they do not get there way. Everyone wants and will miss the old VAs – I personally cannot stand to see them go after all of the hard work they have put into the show and how we all have heard their voices for years, but there is really nothing that can be done. It would be an absolute miracle if we ever got the old VAs back, and at this point, we should be working with PUSA, not going against them, because none of what Veronica Taylor and Eric Stuart are telling us to do is going to make Pokemon better for any of us.

So in conclusion, don’t e-mail Cartoon Network – it will just make things worse for us, give the VAs even more of a negative reputation with the people who actually have the rights to the show, and probably ruin our chances of ever having Pokemon on Cartoon Network ever again.

If you have anything you want to say about any of this, feel free to post in this thread.
