Alolan Meowth and Grubbin from ‘Collection Sun & Moon!’
Alolan Meowth and Grubbin are the first cards to be revealed from Collection Sun and Collection Moon! The two sets will be released in Japan on December 9th and will feature over 120 cards together. The sets will be combined into our first Sun and Moon set in February (probably titled Sun & Moon).
As we can see with Alolan Meowth, all Alolan Pokemon will have “Alolan” in their name. Alolan Evolutions like Alolan Ninetales and Alolan Persian, which evolve exclusively from Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Meowth, will probably specify they can only evolve from the Alolan Basic Pokemon. But Pokemon like Alolan Raichu and Alolan Exeggutor will probably say they evolve from plain ol’ Pikachu and Exeggcute since there’s no Alolan Pikachu or Alolan Exeggcute (as far as we know).
It might be lucky picks, but both Pokemon have 70 HP, which is a bit high for Basic Pokemon. Are HPs going to be raised?
Alolan Meowth – Darkness – HP70
Basic Pokemon[C] Fury Swipes: 10x damage. Flip 3 coins. This attack does 10 damage times the number of heads.
Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 1
Grubbin – Grass – HP70
Basic Pokemon[C][C] Vice Grip: 30 damage.
Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2
We also now have slightly larger images of the “Pikachu & New Friends” blister. The images reveal that holo cards in the Sun and Moon era will have a sort of “wave” holofoil pattern (assuming the holo pattern isn’t exclusive to this product). It also appears that the traditional type backgrounds of the cards now have a light “pebble” pattern over them, as you can see on the cards below and on the ones above.
