Target and Toys R Us ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’ Launch Events This Weekend!
As reported a few times over the past month, both Toys R Us and Target will be holding Sun and Moon launch events this weekend. The games will be released on Friday.
On Saturday you can visit participating Target stores between 11 AM and 2 PM to pick up a Pikachu promo and Alola poster (the Pikachu is not mentioned to be a holo card). You can also take your photos with cut-outs of the Alola Starter Pokemon. Pikachu originates from the “Pikachu & New Friends” blister, which comes out in Japan on November 18th. It’s practically a simultaneous promo release!
On Sunday you can head over to Toys R Us from 2 PM to 4 PM to pick up a holo Electabuzz promo from Evolutions, a second Evolutions Collector’s Album, and a Pikachu poster. The first 50 attendees will also receive a Meowth figurine.
Gamestop will be holding midnight launch events on Thursday night, but there are apparently no freebies. So you can watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starting at 6 PM, then encounter Ultra Beasts in Sun and Moon at 12 AM. :p
Update: An earlier version of this story mistakenly stated Toys R Us’s launch event is Saturday. It’s actually Sunday, as it now states above.
