Japan’s SM4+ Set: ‘GX Battle Boost!’
You didn’t think it was time for another set, but PCL sure did!
We can now exclusively reveal that Japan’s SM4+ set will be named GX Battle Boost and will release on October 20th! The set will feature 114 cards (excluding secret rares). The name of the set is a nod to 2013’s EX Battle Boost set, which eventually became Legendary Treasures.
Every booster pack of GX Battle Boost will come with a Pokemon-GX. The booster pack reveals that Solgaleo, Lunala, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, and Celesteela will be in the set, presumably as Pokemon-GX (assuming the Ultra Beasts use the same mechanic). Every card in the set will be foil, with seven cards per booster pack. So it seems this set will be packed with Pokemon-GX!
In America we’re getting alternate arts of Espeon-GX, Umbreon-GX, Kommo-GX, Charizard-GX, Ho-Oh-GX, Marshadow-GX, Necrozma-GX, Salazzle-GX, and Golisopod-GX in our Espeon / Umbreon Premium Collections, Kommo-o GX Box, Charizard-GX Premium Collection, Mysterious Power Tins, and Team Skull Pin Collection Box, so all of those Pokemon-GX will originate from this set. This means that this will be the first SM+ set that doesn’t just reprint old Pokemon-GX with their original artwork.
Also releasing on October 20th are a “Starter Set: Solgaleo-GX and Lunala-GX” and a “Premium Edition Starter Set: Solgaleo-GX and Lunala-GX.”
The first will come with a 60 card deck, all the typical deck trimmings, and presumably alternate arts of Solgaleo-GX and Lunala-GX.
The second product is a larger version of the first and comes with everything from the first — plus two unknown promo cards, a deck case, and two packs of SM1, SM2, SM3, and SM4 (for a total of eight packs).
As posted before, Japan’s regular SM4 set is named The Awoken Hero and The Transdimensional Beast. It will release on September 15th and will feature over 100 cards. Silvally and Guzzlord will star in the set, making it the first time the Ultra Beasts are in the TCG.
