New USUM Trailers: Larger Pokedex, Mantine Surf, Updated Trials

Pokemon has released new English and Japanese trailers for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. They reveal…

  • A new PokeRide, Mantine Surf, allows you to surf between the islands of Alola and perform various surfing moves.
  • USUM’s Pokedex now features over 400 Pokemon compared to 302 in SM’s Pokedex. New Pokemon now appearing in Alola include Tropius, Larvesta, Volcarona, Mareep, Larvitar, Tyranitar, Zorua, Dedenne, Houndoom, and Manectric. Houndoom is exclusive to Ultra Sun while Manectric exclusive to Ultra Moon.
  • Trials will reappear in USUM. Mallow’s trial seems to now involve searching a group of Sudowoodo for items, Sophocles’s now has a robotic Vikavolt, and in Acerola’s she’s yelling at you to get out of the Thrifty Megamart.
  • Mina now has her own trial. It seems you will battle her.
  • Alolan Marowak is now a Totem Pokemon at Wela Volcano Park.
  • Additionally, new merchandise info from Takara Tomy indicates that Dusk Mane Necrozma will be Psychic/Steel and Dawn Wings Necrozma will be Psychic/Ghost. Dusk Mane Necrozma is 3.8m tall and weighs 460kg (exactly double Solgaleo’s weight) while Dawn Wings Necrozma is 4.0m and weighs 350kg (which is 230kg more than Lunala’s weight).

Accompanying the news was also various pieces of artwork, including a higher quality version of the game’s promotional character artwork that’s been floating around the past few days. It features a couple of mysterious new characters.
