That artwork looks so old school! It’s easy to see why since the artist, Atsuko Nishida, has been involved with the franchise since day one. She’s been illustrating for the TCG since 1997’s Team Rocket where she also drew an Eevee — and now her two Eevee cards are 20 years apart! She’s also the person responsible for designing Pikachu, Vaporeon, Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, Leafeon, Sylveon, and a few other Pokemon. Quite the talented individual!

Since there will be some Espeon and Umbreon TCG merchandise releasing in Japan the same day as SM5, and SM5 features Sinnoh, it’s possible we’ll get some combination of Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, and Leafeon in the set.

(Also it’s not my fault I have to make a news story out of an evolving Basic Pokemon! I don’t choose what Pokemon reveals. :p)
