Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble from ‘Pokemon Sword’ and ‘Shield!’
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are the names of the next Pokemon games! They will release in late 2019 for the Nintendo Switch.
The Starter Pokemon are Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble! With them, you will “forge a path to greatness!”
Grookey: Grass. A mischievous Chimp Pokemon that is full of boundless curiosity.
Scorbunny: Fire. A Rabbit Pokémon that is always running about, bursting with energy.
Sobble: Water. A somewhat timid Water Lizard Pokemon that shoots out attacks as it hides itself in the water.
The games take place in the Galar region, which is industrial. It appears Gamefreak based the design on the United Kingdom (and turned it upside down). The shape of the region resembles a sword, too.
“Galar is an expansive region with many environments — idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokemon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.”
“You’ll visit the various Gyms in the Galar region, aiming for the enviable and admirable title of Champion!”
Random Pokemon encounters are also back in these games!
The box legendaries were not revealed, unlike the initial announcements for X and Y and Sun and Moon. There appears to be a Pokemon designed into the game logos; however, it could just be a generic Pokemon design.
