Mewtwo-GX, Erika To Be Awarded at Japan’s Draft Tournaments This Summer!
Like the last two summers, Japan will be holding draft tournaments for SM11a Remix Bout this July. These tournaments are basically Japan’s version of our prereleases. Last year, the Thunderclap Spark tournaments awarded full art and rainbow rare versions of Zekrom-GX.
This year, the tournaments will award full art and rainbow rare versions of Mewtwo-GX. Players will also receive an Erika promo for participating.
Mewtwo-GX – Psychic – HP180
Basic Pokemon[P][P][C] Super Psy Bolt: 110 damage.
[P][P][C] Psycho Crush GX: 120 damage. Discard all Energy from your opponent’s Active Pokemon. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)
When your Pokemon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2(These are new full art and rainbow rare versions of the Mewtwo-GX from the Family Box set.)
Each player may draw up to 3 cards. (You draw first.)
You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack).
(This is a new reprint of Erika from the classic Gym Heroes set.)
No specific details have been announced for how players can win the different prints of Mewtwo-GX. While last time only 100 copies of Zekrom-GX’s rainbow rare version were printed, this time there will be 300 for Mewtwo. So the awards format will probably be different this year.
Japan first held draft tournaments for Shining Legends in 2017, which awarded a full art Masked Royal promo (it was never released in English). Last year for SM7a Thunderclap Spark, they held two different types of tournaments you could go to which awarded either a full art Zekrom-GX promo or a rainbow rare version (you couldn’t get both at any one tournament, you had to go to two).
Thanks goes to Tunu and Bangiras for the translations!
