Complete ‘Darkness Ablaze’ English Set List!
We have compiled the complete English set list for Darkness Ablaze! The set will release worldwide on August 14th, which is a week later than usual.
Below we’ve included official English text for all the Trainers, Energy, and as many of the noteworthy Pokemon as we could. The Trainers are using their English names.
A few cards from Eruption Walker and Infinity Zone and have been cut from our set. This includes Galarian Obstagoon’s line, Scrafty’s line, Malamar’s line, Drednaw V and VMAX, Gardevoir V and VMAX, Galarian Cursola V, and Grapploct V. They will presumably be saved for our special September set.
As previously reported, Eternatus V’s full art version has also been removed from this set and turned into a promo for the Eternatus VMAX Premium Collection, which releases in September.
The official English text for Eternatus VMAX’s Ability is: “If all of your Pokemon in play are [D] type, you can have up to 8 Pokemon on your Bench, and can’t put non-[D] Pokemon into play. (If this Ability stops working, discard Pokemon from your Bench until you have 5.)”
The Struggle Gloves promo (originally translated as Adversity Gloves) will be included in our English set. Dubious Canned Goods has been cut, likely so it can go with Gardevoir in the September set.
Nickit, Absol, Victini, Zygarde, Rotom Phone, and the alternate art Hop from the Charizard and Grimmsnarl decks did not make it into our set.
Two rainbow rares were cut, but we can’t completely confirm which ones yet. Update (Tuesday, 10:30 AM): We have confirmed Kabu and Piers’s rainbow rares are out!
For the first time since 2012’s Next Destinies, the theme decks will feature reprinted Pokemon. Galarian Sirfetch’d and Galarian Darmanitan both come from Rebel Clash, but feature new artwork. Their artwork hasn’t been seen in Japan yet.
Before anyone asks, Japan’s trophy promos of full art Charizard V and rainbow rare Charizard VMAX were never going to be in this set. It’s unlikely the two promos will release in English anytime soon, if at all. Past tournament trophy cards have never been released in English. We will still get the regular Charizard V and VMAX cards in Darkness Ablaze — the last two pictured here:
In case you missed it, yesterday we revealed the first photos of the prerelease promos. They feature alternate artwork that hasn’t been seen in Japan yet. You can obtain the promos in Darkness Ablaze Build & Battle Boxes, which will be sold at your local hobby shops and PokemonCenter.com. There are no official prerelease tournaments due to coronavirus.
Thanks goes to staff member Steffenka for helping put this card list together!
