‘Kanto Powers Collections’ Featuring ‘Evolutions’ in October!

New repack products named the “Kanto Powers Collections” will release on October 30th. There will be two versions — one featuring Mewtwo-EX and Slowbro-EX and the other featuring Dragonite-EX and Pidgeot-EX.

Each box will come with ten booster packs of Evolutions, the two Pokemon-EX, a jumbo version of the star Pokemon-EX, and a PTCGO code card.

The only cards that seem to be unique to these collections are the jumbo versions of Mewtwo-EX and Dragonite-EX. The regular-sized cards should be exact reprints from Evolutions, unless they are printed on a different kind of holo paper.

The release has only been confirmed through a Canadian distributor so far. But it will likely come to the U.S. as well. There’s no word on pricing yet.

We’re not sure what these collections are supposed to be advertising, as Pokemon’s 25th anniversary is next year. A fan theory has always been that TPCi printed too many packs of Evolutions and is still trying to offload them, but this has never been confirmed. A more likely theory is that Evolutions draws a lot of nostalgic fans into the TCG and TPCi purposefully prints the set for this purpose.
