We now have the full set list for Crown Zenith — our last set of the Sword & Shield era!
The set has a total of 230 cards: 159 cards in the main set, a single secret rare card, and 70 Galarian Gallery cards.
The set is comprised of cards from a whopping 14 different sources. This makes it one of the most “mishmash” sets of all time. This is because the set is trying to include as many unreleased cards from the Sword & Shield era as possible. These sources include:
VSTAR Universe
Paradigm Trigger
Incandescent Arcana
Japanese promos
Chinese promos
The Special Deck Set Charizard VSTAR vs. Rayquaza VMAX
The Zeraora / Deoxys High Class Decks
The Special Set Deck Zacian Zamazenta vs. Eternatus deck
The Start Deck 100 decks
The CoroCoro Start Deck 100 deck
Reprints of Rotom V from Lost Abyss and Rayquaza V from Sky Stream
There are still a few Japanese promo cards that didn’t make the cut. All of them released within the last few months (except for Lucario VSTAR). The cards probably weren’t created in time to be included in the English set before it was sent to the printer. It’s unclear if they will ever release in English. With a couple exceptions, the English TCG usually has no qualms leaving Japanese cards behind in order to proceed to a new generation.
The only possible exceptions below could be Quagsire V, Hisuian Braviary, Aerodactyl, and Peaceful Park. They are the only cards that aren’t reprints, making them (potentially) meaningful to players. We could at least see in an English box for Quagsire V in the future. It would be odd for Japanese players to have access to a V card that English players don’t.
Lucario VSTAR 305/S-P
Ponyta 310/S-P
Quagsire V 311/S-P
Duosion 312/S-P
Pancham 313/S-P
Galarian Meowth 314/S-P
Aerodactyl 315/S-P
Peaceful Park 316/S-P
Hisuian Braviary 318/S-P
Unown V 320/S-P
Lugia V 322/S-P
Lugia VSTAR 325/S-P
The set marks the first appearance of Bellossom since XY Ancient Origins, which was released back in August 2015. This makes it the first new Bellossom card in 7.5 years!
Select products from CrownZenith set will start to release this Friday, January 20th. You can see all the products and info here. Other Crown Zenith products will see staggered releases through May. This will be the longest release period for any English set in history. But it will give fans plenty of time to collect the set.
The January release of this set is probably the reason why Scarlet & Violet have been “pushed” to March 31st. We normally would get our next English set in February, but TPCi probably wanted to give Scarlet & Violet some breathing room due to the release of this special set.
