“Pokemon Card 151” To Release in English in September, Features Original 151 Pokemon!
We can reveal this year’s special holiday set will release on Friday, September 22nd! We previously speculated it would release in late September.
The first wave of products will include an Elite Trainer Box, Poster Box, Binder Collection, Booster Bundle, and Poke Ball Tins. No product descriptions are available yet.
Previously we also reported on Mini Tins, ex Boxes, and an Ultra Premium Collection; these and other products will presumably release over the following months. You can only get booster packs for special sets within designated products, and the releases are always staggered across a few months.
We don’t know the name of our set yet, but it will obviously feature the cards from Japan’s Pokemon Card 151. This is because our August set, Obsidian Flames, already contains all upcoming Japanese releases (leaving only Pokemon Card 151 on the table). We’re also getting Pokemon TCG Classic in October, which will obviously tie in to the release of this set.
Pokemon Card 151 will feature the return of Kadabra after it was infamously embroiled in legal trouble for 20 years. That ended in 2022. Presumably Kadabra’s return sparked the creation of this set, as this is the first time since Gen II that all the original Pokemon can appear together in card form. The set will feature Kanto’s 151 Pokemon in Pokedex order.
Our English set won’t be officially announced for a while, especially since the Japanese set is still being revealed. The Japanese set releases on June 16th. We should see all the cards from its main set revealed tonight, so stay tuned!
