“Scarlet & Violet – 151” Complete Set Guide: Card Images, Products, Demigod Packs, Store Giveaways, and More!
Our special holiday set Scarlet & Violet – 151 officially releases tomorrow, September 22nd! It features 207 cards: 165 in the main set and 42 secret rares.
This set is the first ever to unite the original 151 Pokemon. This is because Pokemon regained legal control of Kadabra, who was embroiled in a lawsuit for 20 years.
151 is our version of Japan’s Pokemon Card 151, which released in Japan on June 16th. Our set is nearly identical.
Since this is a special holiday set, there are no individual booster packs for sale. You can only find booster packs in special 151 products, as listed below. The products will begin to release on September 22nd. Additional products will continue to release throughout October.
English “151” Set List
Thanks goes to our friend JustInBasil for uploading the English card images!
Cut Cards
This is the first time a Japanese and English set share the same card numbers. This is on purpose so that the Pokemon’s card numbers match their Pokedex numbers, like the Japanese set.
This set is almost a 1:1 replica of the Japanese set. Only two Illustration Rares and one Special Illustration Rare have been cut from our set: Snorlax, Mewtwo, and Mew ex have been turned into promos for some of our English products. This will make them easier for fans to collect.
Galaxy Holo Basic Energy
As we posted a few months ago, Scarlet & Violet – 151 will feature holo Basic Energy!
These are available in the Basic Energy slot of a booster pack. They appear roughly in one out of three packs. So if you open 18 packs, you might get six holo Energy.
Most excitingly, they’re printed on the original galaxy holofoil paper used in the Wizards of the Coast era. This same holofoil was recently used by Magic the Gathering for their “Energy” cards. It looks like TPCi decided to reclaim the holofoil.
The regular holos in the set are printed on the standard Scarlet & Violet holofoil paper. Only the Basic Energy use galaxy holofoil.
“Demigod” English Packs
Similar to the Japanese set, some very rare booster packs will feature Illustration Rares of the Venusaur ex line, Charizard ex line, or Blastoise ex line. So it’s possible to get three secret rares in one pack!
To achieve this, the three cards will be placed in the two reverse holo slots and the rare holo slot of our English packs. Currently we don’t know how rare these “demigod packs” are in English.
For the Japanese set, a 6-card booster pack can come with two of the Evolution lines (six secret rares). These are called “God Packs” by fans because they are fully loaded with secret rares. Thus fans should call our English packs “Demigod Packs” because they only come with three secret rares.
Kadabra’s Return to the Pokemon TCG
As we posted over the last year, the set will feature the return of Kadabra after 21 years!
Pokemon stopped using Kadabra in the TCG after Uri Geller sued them over the Pokemon’s likeness to his persona. But in late 2020, Geller changed his mind and relinquished his control of Kadabra. You can read more about his lawsuit here.
Pokemon did not pay any extra homage to the fact Kadabra would be returning in this set. However, it’s highly likely this set was created to celebrate the fact Pokemon regained control of Kadabra. Its evolution, Alakazam ex, also features a highly unique attack.
