Full Art Black Kyurem ex from “Paradise Dragona!”

The full art version of Black Kyurem ex has just been revealed from SV7a Paradise Dragona! The set releases in Japan on September 13th, with most of its cards expected to become part of our Surging Sparks set in November.

The translation of the card is shown below:

Black Kyurem ex – Water – HP230
Basic Pokémon

[C][C][C] Ice Age: 90 damage. If your opponent’s Active Pokémon is a [N] Pokémon, it is now Paralyzed.

[W][W][C][C] Black Frost: 250 damage. This Pokémon also does 30 damage to itself.

Weakness: Metal (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: 3

I NEVER thought these Full Arts would be undesirable in modern sets, but that's just the rub with constantly introducing wilder and rarer varieties of cards that grab everyone's eyeballs. Black Kyurem is a pretty good throwback here, nonetheless!

One of the few FA cards that I like along with Meowscarada.
Too bad that is that good to actually see play. Or that's what I think right now.

If this guy shows up as an SIR this set is gonna go off the rails. It’s already got the latios , latias and pikachu terra.

I don't understand the point of them. They rarely look better than the regular art and really only do in cases where the regular art isn't very good. Why do we need them? Do the regular and alt arts and that's plenty good

This is good in Chien-pao deck because Regidrago vstar still in standard for few months along with this set

Someone wasn't around during the BW era, Full arts looked sick back then. They just put less effort into them later on and now people think they always sucked.

I was expecting to find lots of comments about how boring this Full Art was, but I guess I'm out of touch with what the average collector desires in a Full Art?
I've always been a fan of Full Art V's (I haven't collected any full art lower case ex's) with patterned backgrounds (Like Starmie V, Genesect V and Alolan Vulpix V), dynamic backgrounds (Like Origin Forme Dialga V, Stoutland V or Torkoal V), or vibrant backgrounds (Like Vikavolt V, Serperior V, or the aforementioned Starmie V and Origin Forme Dialga V).
Meanwhile, for Full Art EX's, I tend to favor a less vibrant yet nonetheless colorful pallet, like on Dragonite V or Umbreon V, whose backgrounds are, if anything, more detailed than those of V Full Arts. And then there's the Gengar EX Full Art. S-tier Full Art with one of the most unique backgrounds of all Full Arts, which is also an excellent lore tie-in to the set.
Given what I love about Full Art V's and Full Art EX's, Kyurem ex feels like it got the worst of both worlds. In terms of composition, the Full Art V it most closely resembles is Vikavolt V, but not only are all the colors muted, but they are all shades of blue and grey. That background color may have worked fine for Dragonite EX, but that Pokémon was a rich gold, and the background was broken up by details like speed lines and wind lines.
I guess people with a better respect for color theory just don't like the whimsical designs that have drawn me to Full Art V's. Which is not surprising, considering I am usually one of the last people to think something (especially a Pokemon card) looks tacky.

Wouldn't it be better to just use Chien-Pao ex to Knock it Out in a single hit? Your opponent won't have a chance to switch out and Knock Out your basic before you can Knock Out the Regidrago VSTAR, and you won't be running an extra basic which will only be relevant in a few matchups and will inevitably end up stuck in the active spot at the beginning of every few games (which would be made even more painful by it's high retreat cost).

They just aged poorly because fundamentally they are just CGI models on coloured backgrounds.

And now that TPC has been doing them for over a decade, it's bulk trash and is priced as such.

I don't think there's any other TCG that is as lazy as TPC honestly with these terrible CGI cards still taking up secret rare spots.

I completely agree, don't get why we could just have the regular arts and then the illustration rare/galarian/trainer galleries as the alternates instead.

Seeing Scizor as an example since it’s gotten a full art each gen (since VI) I completely agree and they have been progressively worse imo. However I personally don’t see much point in them even if they looked like they did in BW or XY , I’d still prefer regular art or alt art over them. For me they are as dispensable as rainbow rares (or even gold cards but I don’t mind those since they are few). I’m very passionate about full art supporters tho I don’t want them gone anytime soon and I actually really like how the modern ones look

Dang everyone being so hard on full arts. I’ll defend them forever. I think they’re a great halfway point between the regular ultra rare and the alt. If we take them away, it would be a huge loss. Full arts offer unique textured patterns that not even alts usually do. Maybe everyone is used to collecting English where the texturing is barely noticeable, but if you collect Japanese those textured patterns POP. Yes, I’ll agree full arts used to look cooler with their backgrounds and posing sometimes, but I love collecting them for the texturing and the simplicity of the artwork. Shame on you all that want them gone!
