Thanks goes to Toine L. for the translations!

Okay so they DO intend for you to play the Kanto Eevees as one deck going off the energy counts, wonder how the others will shape up with unique counts.

Thanks for the translation as always

How is Espeon ex's Amethyst attack worth it? Espeon EX from BreakPoint could devolve each of your opponent's Pokémon and put them back into your opponent's hand for a single Colorless Energy... on a basic... meaning you're having to evolve a Pokémon and attach two other Energy cards to get close to the same effect, but the cards get shuffled in. Espeon EX was great as a tech in spread decks, for which purpose this Espeon ex is unplayable, so I guess the added expense and convolution is justified because Pokémon thinks it will disrupt your opponent's board beyond their ability to set up again?... I'm just not seeing it.
(As of right now, only Espeon ex, Vaporeon ex, Jolteon ex, and the previously revealed Flareon ex and Eevee ex are translated.)

"This Pokémon can’t attack during your next turn." These are the words that keep me up at night from how much they ruin good potential on cards.

To be fair this is more of a collectors set so I guess its fine but still annoying that like the 3 OG eeveelutions have this rule.

They all use the same energy cost I assume maybe there will be a card similar to the Ogerpon mask item card we got that lets you switch them so you can chain 280s but other than that its the only potential I see.

EDIT: Umbreons second attack seems interesting, might see play. Glaceon would be so much nicer if its energy cost went somewhat is Dragapult ex though it could see some play. MAX Rod is a nice ace spec maybe on par with Prime Catcher

Alright so with the Eevee's these are pretty damn bad at first glance outside of Leafeon. I could totally see a niche of running Glass Trumpet and building around the healing factor and 230 ontop of that is pretty good.

Espeon getting what is just devo TM but you have to hop through hurdles is disappointing, ontop of alot of these mons sharing the same 280 can't attack next turn effect.

that espeon ex shuffle the highest card into the DECK and not into the opponent's hand

I feel like espeon is not weak at all, forcing your opponent to re-search all of their evolved Pokémon is pretty impactful especially against pidgeot reliant decks or ones that use mid-stage evolutions such as kirlia or drak as draw engines.

"Return to hand" and "Shuffle into the deck" is an immense difference. It warrants the 3 color energy cost.
On that note, surprisingly having that specific energy attachment isn't too difficult at all, so long as Crispin exists. I've tried playing Sylveon ex and having Angelite ready by turn 2-3 was sort of trivial.

There goes hope for a playable leafeon,
Maybe I am overthinking it, but personally I think leafeon doesn’t go terribly against most top tier decks right now. Against drago I can see leafeon attacking when 5 energies are attached with 2 to 3 ogerpons with 1 or 2 energies on them, not to mention drago itself could have one. Same could be said for raging bolt and sometimes gardevoir or lugia. It doesn’t fare well when up against stage 2 decks that require little energy to attack like zard and pult, but I wouldn’t say leafeon is completely unplayable. It could see itself as a rogue deck that can do decently against the meta decks in the current format.

Wuuu Amarys is here now every notable character in SV has a card (minus the protagonists, and technically AI professors and champion Kieran) . Still hope they give full arts here for the missing ones I need the Atticus one so bad

I kinda liked the attacks/gimmicks on the VMAX's better. I know these are all meant to be able to be used in the same deck, alongside non-rulebox eeveelutions, but somehow they don't feel as fun/interesting as the VMAXs did... well, I guess Umbreon, Espeon, and Sylveon ex have interesting gimmicks at least.

Yeah, the mid-stage evolution reliant decks or basically any Hyper Aroma deck seem like they'd suffer, but how often is Charizard ex just going to set up another Charizard ex unaided by any bird and take the revenge KO? And that's without looking at all the basic Pokémon.

As someone who mainly plays retro formats, maybe I just completely overestimated how consistent the game has gotten when I imagined players casually shrugging off this three Energy attack, which, granted, you definitely have many ways of satisfying the cost for. (I can only imagine how devastating Amethyst or Angelite would be in 2006 as, say, an alternative build to LBS, whether it proved to be optimal or a gimmick) Of course, the comforting thing about Sylveon ex is that you can try to punish basic-heavy decks and can just guarantee that targeted evolved Pokémon won't just evolve again.

The only one I see potential is Jolteon (still not stellar) and Leafeon isn’t terrible. I’m super not impressed by the rest but some could be fun

Fortunately you can use Switch or something if Flareon ex, Jolteon ex or Vaporeon ex hasn't been unawaked by your next turn. I like their math the best at a glance, as 280 OHKOs many relevant Pokémon (But sadly maybe not enough?). Of course, other people are mentioning Leafeon ex's first attack.
