GameStop Now Offering PSA Drop-Off Submissions!

Collectors can now submit their cards to PSA from select GameStop stores.

The cards will be sent to PSA for grading and return to the same GameStop store within 45 days. For Pokemon cards valued $200 or less, it will cost $15.99 per card plus a flat $4.99 shipping fee. Customers will receive e-mail updates throughout the process.

This same tier costs $14.99 through PSA’s website, meaning GameStop’s is $1 more. However, the same PSA tier requires a 20-card minimum and a membership. GameStop customers can also use Trade Credits and Pro Coupons to save more.

Cards valued higher can also be submitted, but they will be charged the usual PSA fees.

All cards must be submitted in penny sleeves and card savers, which the stores will sell.

Last spring, GameStop announced their PSA trade-in program. Customers can sell their PSA 8 slabs or higher for cash or store credit. They also began selling Pokemon singles at certain locations.

I already don't like the sound of this. Sure there's the convenience factor, but other than that, I think GameStop is just capitalizing on the popularity of the Pokemon TCG market.

If they provide a good service, and cards don’t randomly go missing, who cares. PSA is kind of daunting, I would love to have cards graded but never went through and took the time because it seemed complicated. If GameStop simplifies that, sweet!
 
The idea that I could use my pro points to slab up some random favorite cards is very interesting - I would never trust them with a very valuable card but this is certainly a simplistic way for people to get the service provided 😄

I understand where you're coming from, but you also have to keep in mind that GameStop has never done anything like this before and a lot of things can go wrong. I'm not really into grading in general and I'm not saying that you shouldn't go through the process of grading your cards. I'm just expressing my personal thoughts and my skepticism.

That’s a good point, I could see them having a lot of issues as a go between the customer and PSA. I think the comment above yours makes a good point about being careful what you submit. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and if people do experience issues. I think your concerns are valid.
