“Heat Wave Arena” and “The Glory of Team Rocket” Releasing in March and April!

We can reveal Heat Wave Arena will release in Japan on March 14th. The set will feature Cynthia’s Garchomp ex.

Those who purchase a box of the set will also receive the three winning promo cards from 2024’s Illustration Contest.

The Glory of Team Rocket will release on April 18th. As expected, the set will feature Rocket’s Mewtwo ex. There will be no Dark Pokemon in the set. They will all be Rocket’s Pokemon.

  • November 22nd: nine decks called “ex Starter Deck Generations” featuring 18 Pokemon ex. Each deck will feature a Legendary Pokemon from each of the nine generations paired with a Pokemon from its generation.
  • December 6th: Terastal Festival featuring Eevee and its Evolutions as Tera Pokemon ex. This will be Japan’s annual “High Class Pack” set.
  • January 24th: Battle Partners featuring the return of the Owner’s Pokemon mechanic.
  • February 21st: Two decks named “Starter Set ex Steven’s Beldum & Metagross ex” and “Starter Set ex Marnie’s Morpeko & Grimmsnarl ex.”
  • March: Heat Wave Arena featuring Cynthia’s Garchomp ex.
  • April: The Glory of Team Rocket featuring Rocket’s Mewtwo ex.
  • May: There were no May sets in 2023 and 2024.
  • June (?): Black Bolt and White Flare?

Same.

It's sad, because Garchomp ex looked good on paper and was SO close to being good, but the meta was so hostile to it with all the decks that could OHKO it (be it Miraidon with weakness, Chien Pao with infinite damage cap, or Roaring Moon with it's attack) with it not OHKOing any relevant multiprizers in return, Cheryl which I was a big fan of rotated (which it took great advantage of against every deck that couldn't OHKO it), and then Greninja ex came out with a straight up better second attack and a more reliable/easier to take advantage of first attack.

Yeah i know, hopefully this one will make up for it, i mean come on, its the ace pokemon of one of the strongest ever champions! there is no way they can make her garchomp a bad card

I'm sure, it will be our August Special Set. Our March Set = Battle Partners + Heat Wave Arena, Our June Set = White Flare + Black Bolt + Decks and August Special Set = Team Rocket. Would make sense.

Heat Wave Arena should not be in our March set. Following the patterns from previous years, only the first main set is featured in our first set. So SV9 should be only Battle Partners. SV10 should be Heat Wave Arena and the Rocket Set. We still have no information if White Flare and Black Bolt are even releasing in June. They seem to be a double set and there are no such thing as a double subset releasing simultaneously in Japan as they would be if they came out after the Rocket set. If they are actually a double main set they would be in our SV11 along with the subset that came before it. So it makes no sense to make the Rocket set be a special set because then SV10 would only be Heat Wave Arena (unless they decide to not give us all the cards from the Generations deck in SV8.5 and instead use them to pad this set).

There is a possibility that the Rocket set could be a second subset in Japan (this has happened before with Celebrations/Vmax Climax). So we would get Battle Partners (SV9), Heat Wave Arena (SV9a), The Glory of Team Rocket (SV9b) and then White Flare (SV10W?) and Black Bolt (SV10B?). So our SV9 would still be only Battle Partners, SV10 would be Heat Wave Arena and White Flare and Black Bolt (with a close release window between Japan and internationally) and then SV10.5 could be the Rocket set.

But if the Rocket set is indeed a main set, I think there is no chance that it will be turned into a special set. I don't think we EVER had an international main set that was based only on a subset,
