“Mythical Island” Set Guide: Full Card List, Missions, Theme Decks, and Accessories!

The Mythical Island mini-set just launched in Pokemon TCG Pocket!

The set introduces 86 new cards to the game, including Mew ex, Celebi ex, Gyarados ex, Aerodactyl ex, and Pidgeot ex. There is only one booster pack design, featuring Mew ex.

This is the first new set ever released for the app. Pocket initially launched with Genetic Apex on October 30th featuring Mewtwo ex. Naturally, Mythical Island follows-up with Mew ex.

This set may be partly inspired by the Southern Islands promo set that released in 1999. It featured an island setting with various terrains shared by Pokemon like Mew, Pidgeot, and Exeggutor.

Mythical Island features 68 cards in its main set and 18 secret rares.

Upcoming “Mythical Island” Event Promos

See this news story for more cards and details.

That Leaf Full Art though. If they ever printed that card as a Promo like Marnie, Cyrus, Professor Juniper (milk carton box), I kid you not, I'd buy up all the stock available (not to scalp) but to send as many as possible to BGS to get at least 1 Black Label.

Incidentally, these cards are MUCH too nice to just have for an app. I'm almost positive that Pokemon would make a special set (like Pokemon Go) for this. However, Pokemon Go packs didn't quite go well with many. So they only made 1 set for GO (if that makes sense). Whereas with Pocket, if its popular enough, Pokemon could make a Pocket set every year (similar to Yugioh Retro Pack 1, Retro Pack 2, Legendary Collection 1-3+, Maximum Gold 1+, etc). Pokemon loves printing money. They'd be crazy to not release the Pocket set as a special set.

Sigilyph seems to be a strictly better meowth for the Mewtwo/Gardy deck, and I’m curious what mythical slab will do for the deck! Seems like being able to scry your way to all your Gardy evos is really good!

Not sure pikachu appreciates anything but maybe dedenne, so mewtwo seems like the clear winner for existing decks (along side mew ex that sures up the charizard ex matchup).

I’m intrigued by the grass stuff in here, Serperior is an interesting form of acceleration so I’m hyped to see if celebi amounts to anything more than a rouge contender.

I wasn't convinced of Mew ex, but now it has been revealed that it also comes with it's own little ridiculously broken Trainer, it's a different situation.
I don't think anything from the base set is random now, I think it's very deliberate to take Pokemon like Pikachu, Mewtwo, Charizard, Mew, that people obviously like a lot, and purposefully push them way above the line to sell packs.

All types got support, thats really great. Also we have content to explore for the next few weeks, this is honestly fine from DeNa. Can't wait to see how the new meta shapes. Grass will be SO SO good

I am almost at the point where I wish I could have an ignore feature for Pocket articles. All it really does is take the few times that Japan never released certain cards, but reproduce that same impact on a bi-weekly~monthly basis. Like, Mew is my favourite Pokemon, and Pocket has now produced 3 cards I love that I will most likely never see IRL. The fact is, at the rate they pump illustration rares and the like on the app, it is literally impossible to even print a set like that IRL without it being over the top. Again, amazing art... that at this right we will never officially see IRL.

Kinda really weirded out that we got nearly an EX for already existing Pokémon?!

Also it is support for Mewtwo EX and Misty EX (Articuno and friends).

Vaporeon is just insanely strong with EX on the bench and counters Sabrina (since you can just attach the energies from the active to the now active) and the Mystic Slab lets you thin out your deck for more Gardevoir/Mewtwo cards.

I went from a Venusaur/Lilligant deck to now a Venusaur/Serperior deck. I'm absolutely loving it 😂

*sigh* more amazing artwork i will never be able to put in my binder 💔 i mean come on, HYOGONOSUKE MEW???? stop torturing me!!!

I tried upgrading our forum software just now and it unexpectedly failed. I had to restore a backup from 8 AM.

Here are the posts that were lost, for archival purposes:

* Pokémon Trainer #158535: "Opened 11 Digital Booster Packs, got the Immersive Celebi. I would've preferred the Full Art Leaf a billion times better."

* Master_Z in reply to BulbaRipz: "Ditch Venusaur and make it Celebi/Serperior. Way faster and more consistent. Though understandable if you don't have 2 Celebi yet haha, I don't either."

* dineinunes in response to Pokémon Trainer #158535: "They could re-use the art, but the cards itself are shit to be released for the actual TCG. People already complain about Starter Deck cards not being good enough, Pocket cards are even worse."

* Sambam_111: "I’m really digging the theme with the artworks of this set. The whole island actually comes to life with the cards. Reminds me a whole lot of the halon sets which a lot of people have been asking for the same artwork theme for a while"

* artyoxenfree: "Too bad all these great cards are digital only. What's the point? Collectors really miss out with this whole pocket stuff."

* Fields. in response to Nirvanna21: "I am 100% seething I will never get access to physical copies of Articuno or Serperior full-arts. They're my favorite Pokemon, both arts are gorgeous, and it's ridiculous they're digital only."
