Hop’s Pincurchin ex, Drifblim, Pokemon Center Lady, and Other Gym Promos Revealed for January!

Starting January 24th, players who attend Japan’s Gym tournaments will receive a new promo pack containing one of seven promo cards.

Three of them are brand new, Pokemon Center Lady is an alternate art reprint, and the rest are direct reprints.

The chase card will be Hop’s Pincurchin ex. In English we should get it inside a future “ex Box” or within a future set. It probably won’t release here for at least six months.

Thanks goes to JustInBasil for the translations!

Hop’s Pincurchin ex – Lightning – HP200

Pokemon ex rule: When 1 of your Pokemon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)

Drifloon – Psychic – HP70

Pokemon Center Lady – Trainer
Supporter

Heal 60 damage from 1 of your Pokémon, and it recovers from all Special Conditions.

You may play as many Supporter cards as you like during your turn.

I hit google translate on the Pincurchin ex and the attack effect is "Draw 2 Cards." Put this in a post rotation Miraidon with Hop's Choice Band and you have an actually decent early game attacker dealing 150 and giving you added consistency.

The only problem I see is being able to use the attack right away, especially if you get to go second. You need a perfect Electric Generator and attach for turn, so you must use Arven. Against evolution decks this card will be awesome.

Will we get this pokemon center lady print in an international set ? I assume we will get a promo box of the Hop ex but cards from promo packs like this and the “billy / o’nare” card I never understand how they make their way here or if they remain exclusives

This card doesn't quite measure up compared to other Hop options. It's not even an effective counter to Budew, as it gives away two prize cards. Meanwhile, Hop's Zacian can deal 30 HP damage with just one energy or even for free with tool. Not worth including or building a strategy around this card.

I would say it's quite effective if they knock themselves out.

You can include Hitmonchan from 151 as a better alternative. If it gets knocked out, it only gives up one prize card, and its lower retreat cost makes it more flexible. Plus, there’s no need to worry about fitting electric energy into your deck.
