“Space-Time Smackdown” Set Releasing on January 29th for “Pocket,” Trading Details Revealed!

A2 Space-Time Smackdown will release on Wednesday, January 29th for Pokemon TCG Pocket!

The set will include over 140 cards across two booster packs. It will feature Pokemon and Trainers from Sinnoh, including Dialga ex, Palkia ex, Lucario ex, Pachirisu ex, Cynthia, and more! It will also introduce Pokemon Tool cards to the game, as implied by Pachirisu ex’s attack.

Trading will also launch in the app on Tuesday, January 28th. Players will need to use two new items, trade hourglasses and trade tokens, in order to trade cards with a rarity of 1-4 ◆ and 1★ with cards of the same rarity. Upon release of the new feature, players will be able to trade certain cards from Genetic Apex and Mythical Island.

The set name might be inspired by WWE SmackDown. Are they trying to turn wrestling fans into Pokémon card scalpers??

Neat to see some Gen 4 love. Bet the sub set will feature Giratina and the name would be something like “Lost Dimensions”
Personnaly i think we’ll get two sub sets one with arceus the other with giratina. Or one sub set but with two booster packs.
This would be be coherent with the legendary’s thematics (space & time / God & evil)

I love gen 4, but I'm a bit disappointed that we're not going deep into Johto just yet.

As for tool cards, I think there's a 99% chance that the first tools we get are adamant and lustrous orbs to make dialga/palkia more playable. Dialga is fine since steels don't have anything better, but Palkia seems pretty heavily outclassed by Gyarados and I don't think being a basic makes up for it. I really hope we don't see a trend of water Pokemon being terrible because they're scared of making Misty stronger.

I think each subset will probably only stick to one pack. I can maybe see them doing a Giratina subset this time, and doing a Hisui + Arceus subset later on??

eh. I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not here among full TCG enjoyers, but I really could not care less for Pocket. All it did is make the hobby almost intolerable as scalpers ruin everyone’s day with the increased demand. I don’t understand how TPCi didn’t see this coming from a mile away when they released the app. Makes me really biased against Pocket tbh. And the gameplay itself is not even good, it’s just the modern TCG with all the elements that make it the modern TCG taken away. The decks are a third the size yet you don’t even see half of it throughout the game, and the best trainer cards are all fcking randomized. The interesting dynamic with energy is gone and none of the Pokemon do anything interesting. Prize cards remain far more interesting a system to win than points, and where’s the gusting?? And all my friends play Pocket yet remain uninterested in my hobby, the full TCG, even though it’s right there and I have decks in person!! It makes me bitter and somewhat sad. The app isn’t even bad for what it is, but it feels set up to make me dislike it as much as physically possible while acknowledging it isn’t bad, and it annoys the hell out of me. Sorry for randomly going on a rant like that out of nowhere, Pocket tends to make me do that lol
