Special English Set Releasing in July, Could Be “Black Bolt” and “White Flare!”

We can reveal a special English set will release on July 18th!

Its first products will be two Elite Trainer Boxes. Two weeks later on August 1st, there will be two Tech Sticker Collections and Illustration Rare Boxes. Then on August 22nd, there will be two Booster Bundles. (This is not a complete listing.)

We already expected our next special set would be based on Japan’s Black Bolt and White Flare. It will release on June 6th and feature all 156 Unova Pokemon across two sets. It will presumably be like 151 but for Generation V. An English set with two Elite Trainer Boxes and two Booster Bundles could reinforce our English set being based on the two sets.

If our special set is based on Black Bolt and White Flare, perhaps our English set could also be split in two like the Japanese sets? It seems the only reason to have two Elite Trainer Boxes and two Booster Bundles would be if there were different booster packs available with different cards.

We can also reveal our next English set after Journey Together will release on May 30th. As previously posted, it should feature the cards from the Steven’s Metagross ex and Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex decks, Heat Wave Arena featuring Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, and The Glory of Team Rocket featuring Rocket’s Mewtwo ex.

As usual, all of this information is preliminary and subject to change.

Considering that Unova has 156 pokemon + forms, this set is going to be massive if it includes all of them
 
I'm not the only one who sees them building toward global product releases, right? We've been converging in a bunch of ways this gen, from card design, to card rarities, to pack art, to near 1-to-1 sets like Night Wanderer/Shrouded Fable, and now possibly dual set releases. Even the Asian side is taking a few cues from TPCi, like the packaging on Chinese starter decks resembling our ex Battle Decks and the Japanese starter kits adopting the "Battle Academy" name.

What is this difference you were looking for? It’s a set to feature every single Unova Pokémon…so it will be full of their beauty ?? How is it being set#.0 or set#.5 change anything other than maybe being able to purchase a booster box and packs rather then collections and ETBs?

It could just be visual, but I've never seen two Booster Bundles listed before.

My thought is that unless the sets will become global releases in the style that Japan releases that it is absolutely a cosmetic difference so there will be a Black and White version of everything they release so the ETB being 2 boxes will have Matching bundles to each theme - the IR collections being themed also makes sense -

HOWEVER it would be very interesting to see how a split set would exist with numbering - if the cards are spilt would they keep it in Pokédex numbering or would they keep standard by typing numbering? Split into 2 this becomes tricky - Obviously having sets that have the same “exclusive Pokémon” from the games in each set would be cool but on the mon that each version share how would they split them?

BUT WHAT IF ITS ACTUALLY THE ROCKET IS THE SPECIAL SET like “Hero’s v Villains” theme and it comes with Rocket takeover box and regular box for each product/thing 🤪

If this is a special set it means rocket set will be a main set with boosterboxes. Let’s hope market cools off in the summer so i can collect in peace
 
Definitely an exciting lineup for the next several months. Hopefully Pokemon will just print enough and not continue the same issues we already have. It would be nice to actually get product upon release.
 
Its also worth noting that BW has always been the game that made the most distinction between versions; whole diff cities, the movie, etc. Like the duality theme is a bit stronger than your typical generation

but they made it sound like the set releases after summer (like after this one in this article) which is not the case. So even if prices will drop over summer, there will be no product in may - and I'm pretty sure that's the fear they referred too. But thx for explaining what summer is.
