TPCi Promises to Print More “Prismatic Evolutions” Amid Unusual Demand

In a statement posted to Twitter, TPCi has announced they plan to print more Prismatic Evolutions “due to high demand impacting availability [at launch].”

The announcement is similar to past ones they’ve made when there’s been product shortages, like during the pandemic.

This comes amid news that Prismatic Evolutions allocations have been severely cut to local stores, leading stores to limiting or even cancelling customer preorders.

When you have a format in league that requires you to always have the latest and greatest cards as soon as possible, these shortages are gonna continue to happen. Scalpers will take advantage of this set up and you will always pay higher. I’m glad I play only in PTCGL.

In fact, no one would care about this set if it wasn’t special art cards for the standard format. Both you and the scalpers would care less.

What are you talking about? The only card that'll see play in this set is Budew, a common, and even that is not very important

Yes, people are scalping this set to get new cards for their decks. Common Budew is the issue, definitely not the inflated Umbreons. It's Budew.

In fact, so many people are opening every set to chase the super expensive cards that literally all the playable cards in the format are super cheap. Most expensive main deck card is like 10-15, the game is at its most affordable time ever.

While true, it's not nearly as big of problem with pokemon as it is with other card games. Playing pokemon competitively is cheap as dirt compared to other games. The only things that ever gets truly expensive with pokemon are the collectable cards. The fact that the rules allow for a 2 week buffer after release to get new cards helps immensely.

Hopefully they really mean this with their full chest. I see statements like this and just remember that yes they technically printed more of the Van Gogh Pikachu after they promised that too, but it wasn't enough and barely moved the needle in terms of price/scalping.

Hahahahaha! ...Oh wait they're serious, let me laugh even harder. AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

But seriously, TPCi has had multiple chances to address this issue and they failed it at every single chance. Generations had supply issues, Champion's Path had supply issues, Shining Fates had supply issues, Celebrations had supply issues, 151 has supply issues, Surging Sparks has supply issues, and now Prismatic Evolutions and Journey Together are set to have supply issues.

And what does TPCi do? They tweet out a statement that basically the "Oopsie Woopsie! UwU..." of TCG announcements.

Oh, and that's not even getting into the bigger problem of scummy distributors and TPCi mucking about with the pull rate (as mentioned by @Matteloop).

Do you think that scalpers would waste their time if this set had nothing but special arts of reprints that are not in the standard format?

New? No one said new. Standard format cards? Yes. Scalpers wouldn’t waste their time or money on special art cards that are not the standard format… and neither would you.

This. That whole collaboration was such a fiasco. And many still couldn't get the card and/or products. After one or two restocks, they said "Oh well" and quietly stopped restocking and printing those things altogether while the products and promo card retain their inflated value online.

Let’s hope this happens, I feel bad for collectors. Players only need to worry about budew and don’t need to buy the set.

What about Regig? Budew is hyped, it won’t be as strong as it’s made out to be. Yes the free attack and item lock is strong but it’s easy enough to kill or boss out of the active then rare candy.

I'm sorry this just isn't true at all.
What does that even mean?. The set is Standard Format. If you are referring to it being a special set as opposed to a main line set that makes little difference. There are still a bunch of competitive cards via reprints from other sets. From a collector standpoint this set will be very sought after with all of those Master Ball cards. They may print a bunch of this but the market will absorb it due to demand and the scarcity of SIR’s and Master Ball’s.
It’s an Eevee set it’s always gonna have love.

Just take the Switch 2 approach and print so much that there's a snowballs chance in Hell of running out of first party product
And when ETB’s and booster bundles drop lower than MSRP we have another Vivid Voltage Scenario. And when LGS’s go out of business with distribution debt it’s not good for the hobby.

Regi will be decent to, not every deck will play it but the feels that do will make good use of it. I think budew usage will spike but then even out once ppl see where it is best in
