“Inferno X” Set Trademark for the Pokemon TCG!
A new trademark for Inferno X (インフェルノX) has been filed by Pokemon. It’s under the same terms as trademarks used for set names in the past.
We usually discover trademarks around six to nine months before their sets release, so we could see this in October or November based on the current release schedule. Sometimes trademarks are revealed out of order, however.
The “X” in the set name may be a reference to X&Y, as we’ll be entering the Mega Evolution block later this year. The first Mega Evolution sets in August, Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, will feature Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex.
Since the TCG schedule is currently focusing on older Mega Evolutions, it’s possible Inferno X could feature a popular Mega Evolution like Mega Charizard X. It depends on when Z-A will actually release. After the game hits store shelves, we should start to see new Mega Evolutions headlining sets.
Here’s the upcoming Japanese TCG schedule:
- April 18th: The Glory of Team Rocket featuring Rocket’s Mewtwo ex.
- May: There were no May sets in 2023, 2024, and now 2025.
- June 6th: Black Bolt and White Flare featuring all 156 Unova Pokemon.
- August 1st: Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia featuring Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex.
- September 5th: Two preconstructed decks named “Starter Set Mega Gengar ex” and “Starter Set Mega Diancie ex.”
- October (?): Inferno X.
