“The Glory of Team Rocket” All 98 Main Set Cards Revealed!
All 98 main set cards from The Glory of Team Rocket have now been revealed! The set will release in Japan on April 18th.
We will see these cards in our English Destined Rivals set on May 30th.
The Glory of Team Rocket features the return of Team Rocket’s Pokemon. (There are no Dark Pokemon in the set.) All are named “Team Rocket’s ____,” but feature different Trainer icons on the cards. They include Giovanni, all four Rocket Executives from HeartGold & SoulSilver, and the Rocket Grunts from FireRed & LeafGreen.
Sadly, Jessie and James are not included in this set. This may be due to the fact they’ve been written out of the anime.
Some of the cards feature callbacks to Dark Pokemon that have released over the years. For example, Team Rocket’s Hypno has a “Bench Manipulation” attack just like Dark Hypno from 2000’s Team Rocket. Team Rocket’s Ampharos has the same “Darkest Impulse” Ability as the Poke-Body on Dark Ampharos from 2006’s EX Team Rocket Returns.
With the cards from this set, the “connected illustration” for this year is now complete. It is drawn by Ayako Ozaki. Yanma is part of the same setting but not directly connected.
It appears this may be the last set to feature Owner’s Pokemon. The sell sheets for the next two sets, Black Bolt and White Flare, make no mention of featuring the mechanic. They will release on June 6th in Japan.

“The Glory of Team Rocket” Pokemon Center Merchandise
To celebrate The Glory of Team Rocket, Japan’s Pokemon Centers will release themed TCG accessories alongside the set on April 18th. They include card sleeves, deck boxes, a card storage box, a playmat, damage counter case, playmat case, and various apparel.
A “Glory of the Rocket Team Attaché Case” already released through a lottery on the Pokemon Center website for 14,900 yen ($100). It comes with 30 booster packs of the set. It’s a case meant to protect your accessories, as seen in the second image below.
Team Rocket’s History in the TCG
The original Team Rocket set released in 2000 and introduced Dark Pokemon. They were Pokemon corrupted by Team Rocket. As a result Dark Pokemon had lower HP, but higher attack power.
Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge released next and introduced the first Owner’s Pokemon, including Rocket’s Pokemon.
Dark Pokemon returned in 2002’s Neo Destiny alongside Light Pokemon. The set description tied them to Team Rocket.
Then 2006’s EX Team Rocket Returns combined both Dark Pokemon and Rocket’s Pokemon in the same set. Despite releasing in Generation III, all of the Pokemon in the set were from Kanto or Johto. This is because Team Rocket mainly operates in those regions.
It’s likely Dark Pokemon weren’t brought back in 2025 because they’re conceptually tied to Generations I and II. Owner’s Pokemon is a more versatile mechanic that can work across multiple sets. It can not only revive Team Rocket, but Trainers and Pokemon from every generation!
