“Inferno X” Set to Release in September, Indeed Features Mega Charizard!
We can confirm Inferno X will release in Japan on September 26th. The set was previously revealed through trademarks.
As speculated before, the set will indeed feature Mega Charizard X. We last saw it during the XY block in 2016:
For the past decade, Charizard has always been the star of the second or third set of each block:
- 2014's XY: Flashfire
- 2017's Sun & Moon: Burning Shadows
- 2020's Sword & Shield: Darkness Ablaze
- 2023's Scarlet & Violet: Obsidian Flames
Inferno X will be the second MEGA set, following the dual sets Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia on August 1st featuring Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex. It seems the TCG is going into this new MEGA block with previous Mega Evolutions, and will then begin to headline sets with new ones once we're in range of Legends: Z-A.
We should get Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia in English for our August / September set. Then, we could get Inferno X for our November set along with the cards from the Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex decks.
Here's the upcoming Japanese TCG schedule:
- June 6th: Black Bolt and White Flare featuring all 156 Unova Pokemon.
- August 1st: Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia featuring Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex.
- September 5th: Two preconstructed decks named “Starter Set Mega Gengar ex” and “Starter Set Mega Diancie ex.”
- September 26th: Inferno X featuring Mega Charizard X.
