McDonald’s Japan to Distribute Pokemon Cards in Happy Meals!

For the first time in a decade, McDonald's Japan will be distributing promo cards in its Happy Meals!

From August 9th to 11th, customers can get a new Pikachu promo plus one of five promo cards at random: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Ralts, and Riolu. All of the promos are reprints from recent sets, but only Pikachu features brand new artwork. Each card is stamped with the McDonald's logo.

McDonald's will also distribute Pokemon toys in their Happy Meals starting August 8th, as they've been doing for years.

The last international McDonald's promotion, called "Dragon Discovery," took place in the United States and other countries from late 2024 to early 2025. Perhaps we'll also get the Pikachu promo for our next one?

I wonder if they would switch out the succotash next to the burger for some fries in American versions or if they just will give us a different reprint from a set 🤔

Most likely we’ll never get this outside of Japan
 
Yeah the first kanji behind 9 is Saturday so it really lasts from Aug 9 to 11. Only 3 days and only Pikachu has new artwork, it's going to be scalped like crazy and be super expensive. I can't even begin to imagine the hell scene at Japanese McDonalds during those 3 days.

Ah it’s true. I didn’t look at the first ones and forgot about the days. My bad, sorry.

I agree. They don't care about the cards. It's all about reselling and gaining profits for them. The card game, I feel, has lost its genuine meaning for the most part. I buy packs here and there, but not nearly as much as I used to. It's really hard to find packs anywhere because people keep hogging them all.
 
I love these! I think the Mcdonald's cards in other countries look a lot better than the cards that we get here in the states. I'm going to be chasing the Pikachu promo and the Sprigatito. I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna be fighting the scalpers though. :/
 
Any idea what the pile next to the burger is? It looks like peas,carrots, and corn, is that a side you can get at a McDonalds in Japan?
