Prerelease Kits To Be Sold in Stores: ‘Build & Battle’ Kits!

Prerelease kits will now be sold at retailers like Gamestop!

We’ve received word that certain retailers will begin selling a “Forbidden Light Build & Battle Kit” on May 4th, the same day Forbidden Light hits store shelves. Each kit will retail for $19.99.

The kit has the same contents and design as a prerelease kit except it’s marked with a “Build & Battle” label:

• A 23-card Evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets, including 1 of 4 alternate art promos
• 4 Forbidden Light booster packs
• 1 deck-building tip sheet

This now means anyone can easily purchase a prerelease kit to get the promos. It will no longer be necessary to attend prereleases to get the goods (although you won’t get the social experience of the tournaments, nor get the product early). I wonder how this will affect prerelease attendance?

This is probably why the Basic Energy Box is now being sold in stores. I assume TPCi wants groups of friends to hold their own mini tournaments.
