“Battle Academy” Set Name Trademarked for the TCG, Plus Other Upcoming Releases!
Pokemon Japan has filed a new trademark for Battle Academy (バトルアカデミー). It’s under the same terms as trademarks consistently used for set names in the past.
(The name isn’t to be confused with our English Battle Academy products.)
The name seems to be a reference to the Blueberry Academy that will be featured in The Indigo Disk, the second part of the Scarlet & Violet DLC releasing this winter.
In The Indigo Disk, you will travel as an exchange student to the Blueberry Academy, the sister school of Scarlet‘s Naranja Academy and Violet‘s Uva Academy. It’s a new school with a curriculum that emphasizes Pokemon battling. Most of the school’s building is located under the ocean.
We usually discover trademarks around six months before they go into use. This could release in early 2024.
In terms of upcoming Japanese releases…
Eight new “ex Starter Decks” will release on July 7th. They will feature Decidueye ex, Victini ex, Greninja ex, Miraidon ex, Clefable ex, Koraidon ex, Houndoom ex, and Melmetal ex. A “Random ex Starter Deck” will also release containing one of the decks at random, including two additional secret decks that haven’t been revealed yet.
SV3 Ruler of the Black Flame will release on July 28th. It will introduce the first Tera Pokemon ex of unusual types, including Charizard ex (Darkness), Tyranitar ex (Lightning), and Eiscue ex (Fire). It will feature 108 cards before secret rares.
SV3a Raging Surf will release on September 22nd. It will feature 62 cards before secret rares, including Gholdengo ex and a Water-type Garchomp ex.
A “Starter Set Terastal Mewtwo ex” and “Starter Set Terastal Skeledirge ex” will also release on September 21st. Each 60-card deck should feature around 20 unique cards. Both Pokemon ex will be unusual types.
SV4 Ancient Roar and Future Flash will release on October 27th. We previously speculated they could feature Walking Wake and Iron Leaves to tie-in to the first Scarlet & Violet DLC releasing in the fall.
The “Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic” Box Set will release in late October. The product will contain three 60-card decks headlined by Base Set Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Each of the decks will contain new and reprinted cards.
A “Special Deck Set ex Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise” will release on November 10th. The product will feature three decks headlined by Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, and Blastoise ex. Presumably they will be different than the ones releasing in Pokemon Card 151.
SV4a Shiny Treasure will be this year’s special “High Class Pack Set.” It will release in November or December. The name implies it will feature shiny Pokemon.
We know about SV5 Cyber Judge and Wild Force through trademark listings, but nothing else. They might release in January 2024. We previously speculated they could feature Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon.
And then we have Battle Academy, which might release in early 2024.
