“Paradox Rift” Set and Product Lineup Officially Revealed!
Paradox Rift has been officially revealed by Pokemon! It will release on Friday, November 3rd as our fourth Scarlet & Violet set. We first posted about the set a month ago.
The Elite Trainer Boxes will feature either Roaring Moon on the packaging with a Scream Tail promo inside, or Iron Valiant on the packaging with an Iron Bundle promo inside. The two promos haven’t been revealed yet, but their set cards were revealed last week.
The Paradox Rift set description reads as follows:
Dive into the clouds and explore a land that appears to be unbound by time! With ferocious attacks, Ancient Pokémon like Roaring Moon ex and Sandy Shocks ex appear alongside artificial Future Pokémon like Iron Valiant ex and Iron Hands ex. Meanwhile, Garchomp ex, Mewtwo ex, and others Terastallize to gain new types, as Armarouge ex, Gholdengo ex, and more Pokémon ex join the fray. Adventure awaits as timelines collide in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift expansion!
The set will feature:
Over 180 cards- New Ancient and Future Pokémon
- Type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex with a crystalline appearance, including a Water-type Garchomp ex
- 13 Pokémon ex and seven Tera Pokémon ex
- 34 illustration rare Pokémon
- 15 special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
- 28 ultra rare full-art etched Pokémon ex and Supporter cards
- Seven hyper rare gold etched cards
- More than 20 Trainer cards
- Technical Machines will also return, where they’ll appear as new Pokémon Tool cards that allow access to a new attack while attached.
As revealed at Worlds, the set will introduce Paradox Pokemon with the mechanic labels “Ancient” and “Future.” Except for Great Tusk ex and Iron Treads ex, the TCG has completely ignored Paradox Pokemon until now. This mirrors how Ultra Beasts weren’t introduced until the fourth set of the Sun & Moon era.
According to Pokemon, “Embodying toughness and power, Ancient Pokémon tend to have direct attacks that do a lot of damage, and they’re more difficult to Knock Out. Harnessing speed and technique, Future Pokémon tend to have Abilities and attacks with extra effects that allow for clever maneuvers and crafty strategy. In addition, Ancient Trainer cards tend to assist Ancient Pokémon, while Future Trainer cards tend to assist Future Pokémon.”
Our English set will be comprised of the cards from September’s Raging Surf, its associated Tera Mewtwo ex and Tera Skeledirge ex decks, and October’s Ancient Roar & Future Flash.
