“Pokemon TCG Pocket” Immersive Collecting App Coming in 2024!
A new card collecting app called Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will release for iOS and Android later this year! It was revealed during today’s Pokemon Presents.
The app allows you to open virtual booster packs to collect digital Pokemon cards. You can open two packs per day at no cost. You can also trade cards in the app. It’s classified as a “free-to-start” app.
Some of the cards feature 3D effects, as you can see with this new Charizard ex:
The app also features “immersive cards,” which allows players to dive deeper into a card’s artwork. Here’s an example for this new Pikachu ex:
Pokemon TCG Pocket will feature brand new cards that only appear in the app:
Many of its cards will use real card illustrations from as far back as Base Set. However, the app’s cards will not be the same as the originals; they have completely different stats.
Additionally, players will be able to use the app to engage in quick battles featuring streamlined rules based on the classic Pokemon TCG battle system. The battle mechanics appear to be identical to the My First Battle products from last September. Presumably the app features these simpler battles to entice fans to explore the real TCG.
The app is being developed in collaboration with Creatures and DeNA.
