“Ruler of the Black Flame” Also Getting Reprinted in Japan, Pokemon Continuing to Restock Past Sets!
We’ve learned a reprint of Ruler of the Black Flame will also be coming to Japan in May! Booster packs and boxes are expected to be widely available at stores. The set originally released in July 2023; it has been out of print since then.
This is following news of a Pokemon Card 151 reprint coming in May, which we reported earlier this week. The set originally released in June 2023.
Pokemon Japan is clearly serious about reprinting sets. The Pokemon Center website recently restocked every set since October 2023. This was an unprecedented sight, as the website has been out of booster products since the pandemic. All of the restocked sets are still available for sale despite strong demand, meaning they must have received large print runs.
It looks like Pokemon Japan is reprinting their sets from newest to oldest. Except for Raging Surf, today’s news means Pokemon has moved to reprint every set since June 2023:
- SV5 Wild Force & Cyber Judge (January 2024) — restocked and currently available for sale
- SV4a Shiny Treasure ex (December 2024) — restocked and currently available for sale
- SV4 Ancient Roar & Future Flash (October 2023) — restocked and currently available for sale
- SV3a Raging Surf (September 2023)
- SV3 Ruler of the Black Flame (July 2023) — coming in May 2024
- SV2a Pokemon Card 151 (June 2023) — coming in May 2024
Pokemon Japan has been promising to address their supply chain issues since 2021. It seems they’re finally delivering!
