“Surging Sparks” Prerelease Promos Fully Revealed!

The prerelease promos for Surging Sparks have been fully revealed! Previously their images were stacked over each other, thus hiding their full artwork.

All four cards are reprints from the set, but feature English-exclusive artwork (for now).

You can get one of the promos in a Surging Sparks Build & Battle Box. They can be purchased early by participating in prerelease tournaments. They will be held starting next weekend. Use Pokemon.com’s event locator to find one near you.

Most Surging Sparks English cards have already been revealed. All the products for the set can be found here.

The set will release on November 8th.

Is it just me, or are the promos meh. Not art wise but like cards selected. Like, magnetron is good and idk how good Chein-pao is. The rest are meh. And idk how fun it wil be to play with these at prerealise

Odd selection honestly. Gouging Fire is pretty boring but also pretty strong in prerelease. The Koraidon uncommon will be powerful with it.

I guess Magneton is going to come with Ultra Balls or Cycling Road? Because otherwise that acceleration is going to be clunky as heck in prerelease. The only trainer card that discards cards in this expansion is the blender ace spec. Probably getting paired with the Tapu Koko rare.

Chien-Pao will probably be pretty good. Its ability seems whatever for this prerelease though. I suppose Tapu Koko and Indeedee survive Icicle Loop if the +30 HP Basics Stadium is in play? If Magneton has Cycling Road like I said then the discard could also be useful. I'm guessing it'll be paired with either the Quaxly or Spheal line.

Indeedee just seems kinda bad. I don't see many instances where its clunky heal actually does much. Could be paired with anything, maybe the Togepi line or Yamask line.

Gouging Fire hits hard, but Chien-Pao and water deck does double damage to him even in prerelease, right?
Yes, that's right.

Chien-Pao has to compete with Lost Vacuum until rotation. I think Lugia might be the only deck that plays it and I’m not entirely convinced Lugia will still exist as a deck in SUS format

Yeah we really need to see what Indeedee is paired with. At least Chien Pao has an attack that makes sense as an attacker in one of these. Indeedee is the same problem as what Mawile was a few sets back in one of these, and Mawile's result was meh.

This needs more detail. What do you think would be driving Lugia out of the format?

lost zone pikachu and the influx of new electric support being added is gonna nerf lugia a lot, but it definitely shouldn’t drive it out of the format completely by any means.

Gouging Fire is an automatic 170 for 3 energy in a pre-release. A bit slow out the gate, but once it’s powered up you’ll be hard to beat.

Magneton decks will be fast and self destructive. It only works for lightning, so those decks will essentially be mono colored.

Chien Pao has…stadium hate? Who plays stadiums in a prerelease?

Indeedee has “bench me and heal 30”. Yeah, no.
