Exclusive Articuno Card Releasing in China, Last of Chinese “Pokemon GO” Cards?

Yet another Pokemon GO card will release in China with exclusive alternate artwork — this time it’s Articuno!

This will be their 21st exclusive Pokemon GO card.

It will release in China’s Victory Star set on November 15th. The set will feature Unown VSTAR. China is currently releasing “compilation” sets to catch up to the rest of the world.

This should be the last Chinese set to feature Pokemon GO cards. China should be moving on to the Scarlet & Violet era after this set. Unown VSTAR was featured in our last Sword & Shield set, Silver Tempest, in November 2022.

As I explained months ago, it’s possible China was getting new artwork for these cards because Pokemon GO is banned there. The original GO cards use a Niantic copyright and some iconography from the game.

This is the fourth Chinese set to feature Pokemon GO cards. June 18th’s Brave Stars set introduced 14 with new artwork, including Radiant Venusaur and Radiant Eevee. August 2nd’s Shadow of Glory released five more, including Radiant Blastoise and Moltres. September 20th’s Shadow of the Azure Sea included a Zapdos.

They will have a much different format without PokeStop existing for turbo decks.
