Next Standard Rotation May Occur in April 2025, List of Important Cards We’ll Lose

For the last two years, TPCi has rotated our Standard format on the day the first main set of the year becomes legal.

We announced a few days ago that Journey Together will release on March 28th, 2025. It will become become legal two weeks after it releases.

This means our next rotation should occur on April 11th, 2025. If so, it would rotate out all cards with the “F” regulation mark.

Notable “F” cards include all VSTAR Pokemon like Regidrago and Lugia, all Radiant Pokemon like Greninja and Charizard, the Lost Zone engine, Poké Stop, Archeops, Roxanne, Trekking Shoes, Switch Cart, Hisuian Heavy Ball, and Kirlia.

Scarlet & Violet released on March 31st, 2023 and became legal two weeks later on April 14th. This was the same day “D” cards rotated out of the Standard format.

Temporal Forces released on March 22nd, 2024 and became legal on April 5th, the same day “E” cards rotated.

TPCi should make an official rotation announcement in January 2025 based on past years.

Ill totally miss some cards like panic mask, Irida, the radiants, magma basin, double turbo but what I will miss the most probably is hisuian heavy ball Im gonna hate losing that card. And hope they never reprint pokestop
 
For met, the biggest loss will be Dark Patch. Even though I do not attend big tournaments (money for both cards and traveling would be WAY over budget for the hobby), I am still trying to make Roaring Moon ex work. And it does. As long as it does not brick hard, I can compete with most of the decks I play against. Without Dark Patch however, I don't see it as viable anymore and Raging Bolt will most likely push it out of meta completely (as it pretty much already did for majority of play groups).
 
With this rotation we say an official goodbye to yellow bordered cards. Outside of cards that have had reprints in SV block, it's a rotational farewell to the card design we had for the longest time.

The loss of individual cards impacts the game a lot more than this of course, but I felt it notable to mention this change too
 
Anyway, I’m actually looking forward to next year’s rotation. VSTARs and Radiants can get in the bin as far as I’m concerned. There’s honestly not much I’m actually going to miss this time
 
They better make a successor to Hisuian Heavy Ball because important supporters, evos, and items getting stuck in prizes is becoming more and more of an issue if we also can't grab important support mons anymore.

Everything else leaving like Forest Seal, Rotom V, and Radiant Pokemon as a whole will be a severe blow to the consistency of slower decks and I don't know how rogue decks will survive without them after the fact.
