Hydrapple from “Heat Wave Arena”

Hydrapple will appear in Heat Wave Arena, which releases on March 14th in Japan. The cards from the set will become part of our Destined Rivals set in May.

Applin – Grass – HP40
Basic Pokémon

[G] Mini Drain: 10 damage. Heal 10 damage from this Pokémon.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: 1

Dipplin – Grass – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Applin

[G] Energy Loop: 50 damage. Put an Energy attached to this Pokémon into your hand.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: 3

Hydrapple – Grass – HP170
Stage 2 – Evolves from Dipplin

[G] Hydra Breath: Discard 6 Basic [G] Energy from your hand in order to Knock Out your opponent’s Active Pokémon. If you can’t discard 6 Basic [G] Energy in this way, this attack does nothing.

[G][C][C] Whip Smash: 140 damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: 3

Hydrapple's pose and expression look strange, but they kind of always do, which which makes the card look funny/derpy, but I like the colouring and I do like Jerky's style. It's a good contrast to have a card like that every 2 sets or so.

I just think it looks like the actual pokemon out in the wild while the other looks like a cave mural or something. Plus this one has an actual dex entry as ex cards don't have that.

Didn’t say it’s a bad thing, love Jerky and the card is awesome too. To me, the mural card is much more original tho. Personally I don’t care for the dex entry either since my dex is Japanese.

Is there a possibility that this becomes good with Sinistcha ex to late game board wipe opponents? Maybe it could be a one of in Hydrapple ex decks? Excited to see if it gets play or not. (Great art also)
