Worlds 2016 at San Francisco’s Marriott Marquis, Dates
San Francisco’s official tourism website now lists Worlds as taking place between August 15th and 22nd at an unspecified hotel. However, San Francisco’s Marriott Marquis is listing a Pokemon group block for those dates, meaning the hotel will undoubtedly be hosting Worlds as well as housing its competitors. The hotel sports 117,000 square feet of meeting space, so it has plenty of room for Worlds.
It is currently unknown if the first several days of the event are for setup time or if they’re for an expanded event, such as if Worlds were to start hosting a Pokken World Championship or doing other things. Regardless, the main TCG and VG tournaments will probably start on Friday, August 19th and conclude on Sunday, August 21st (if history is to repeat itself).
Pokemon has not officially announced the venue for Worlds, the dates it will take place, or what will happen at the event. So if you’re planning to book your room now based on the information in this post, you do so at your own risk.
A huge thanks goes to George North for discovering all of this information!
