‘Shiny Mega Gyarados Collection’ Product Image, New Info

We now have an image of the “Shiny Mega Gyarados Collection,” which will hit store shelves stateside on February 24th for $19.99. As I reported before, it will come with a figurine of shiny Mega Gyarados, a holo promo of shiny Gyarados, four booster packs, and a PTCGO code card. The promo is a reprint of Gyarados from Ancient Origins but with new, shiny-colored artwork.

Some product listings state the collection will also come with a shiny Magikarp promo, but the product image above doesn’t seem to indicate that. The image is from an international distributor, so the final American product may have the Magikarp promo (assuming the product listings have not made an error or the product wasn’t later revised). So the jury is still out on whether we’ll get golden Magikarp.

Instead of this collection, Europe will get a “Shiny Mega Gyarados Box” that replaces the figurine with a jumbo card. Probably because of some toxic plastic laws… or something.

Update: Oh, just noticed this. As part of “Pokemon Day” on February 27th, Toys R Us stores will be giving away holo Pikachu and Magikarp cards as well as activity books and posters. I wonder if this is where the shiny Magikarp went, since giving out a regular Magikarp card to celebrate Pokemon’s 20th anniversary would be hilarious (considering Magikarp is always treated as “fail”).
