Well the first time I ever heard about "Pokemon" was in 1998 when i was 7 and was living in Mexico for a year. But it would air past my bedtime so I never got to see it there. When i returned to the U.S. Pokemon was EVERYWHERE. So naturally I got into it, I really loved the cards for their artwork. So for a while I was just a collector, I knew how to play a little bit, but definitely not on a competitive level. I stopped collecting cards though around right before the Pokemon Expedition set came out, it was getting a little expensive for me buying so many cards, so for the most part i just stuck to playing the video games.
One day in college when I was 22 I wanna say, my friend and I skipped class and while hanging out at the park we reminisced about stuff in the past. "Hey remember Pokemon?" was asked by one of us, and so right then and there we bought two started decks from a nearby Wal Mart, learned how to play and took it from there.
