I know this from personal experience. I know multiple people, male and female (including my aunt) who claimed to be homosexuals and after a few months gave it up and eventually got dates of the opposite sex. In addition to what I've seen personally, by an evolutionary perspective homosexuality doesn't make sense. There exist almost no other trait, including negative ones, that defeat the organism's ability to reproduce that have survived (and the few that do do so because they allow the organism to survive some other diseases (see sickle cell anemia)). That's not to say it isn't real, but to say that in the numbers it's arisen to at this point of time is absurd (not to mention the huge amount of people who claim to be "bi-sexual", which essentially is both homosexuality and hetero).
I believe homosexuality is real, and I have absolutely nothing against it.
But I'm convinced that many people who claim to be homosexuals are not.
And I think that's more than reasonable all things considered.
