Nah, I don't mind. I've done the same thing with a few others. SMTxFE seems to be shaping up to be more like PersonaxFE but that's another story.
SMT IV is definitely the easiest out of...probably the whole series not counting the Devil Survivor games and Persona but that still doesn't stop it #reking new players that don't understand the main mechanics (if you get back attacked you may as well restart). However it is a very good game with great pacing as long as you remember to save often. If you want a straight -SMT experience-, as some people say, then that's a good place to start. The first two games are very classic first person dungeon crawlers and the third is hell on earth. I wouldn't recommend them to new players, unless I could watch them try to navigate the warp dungeons, but they are true masochistic SMT games.
SMT IV will probably give you about 50-70 hours and has a good early game so if you like it, it's good for a train ride. You should also check out SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked. It's a strategy RPG with a lot of elements from the main series and fairly similar to FE tbh. The big difference between the two is that it has a very slow start and character development is very different. After the second boss you get more options and should get the hang of IV.

I myself have put to the pen some of my ideas for a Sequel to awakening, in which I try to uncover what's "Beyond the awakening" in a site about Fanfiction. (I don't know if I can post which site it is, but I believe you got my point on which it was I have gathered some fans that share the same passion as me. I must say that the new one sounds pretty good too! And last but not least, I checked your play-through. I find it very nice and well organised! Good job!
